TotalEnergies installed its European trading hub in Geneva, which now brings together very large teams around trading activities: TotalEnergies Trading & Shipping (T&S) and TotalEnergies Gas and Power (TGP).
TotalEnergies Gas and Power (TGP) is the trading arm of TotalEnergies in the field of low‑carbon energies. It operates in fast‑evolving market dynamics influenced by internal and external factors that require constant adaptation and evolution. The Trading division in Geneva is responsible for optimising the purchase & sales portfolios of gas, electricity, CO2 emissions, dry bulk, and LNG in all recognised markets worldwide, in compliance with the Company trading guidelines. In such context, TGP helps to ensure growth and profitability to a key segment of the business in order to reach the objective of Carbon Neutrality by 2050.

Key responsibilities
* Contribute to the existing in‑house suite of short‑ and mid‑term weather‑to‑power models for forecasting wind generation, solar generation and net power demand.
* Contribute to the developments of wind/solar yield models with the ingestion of TotalEnergies assets data.
* Monitor daily the performance of WMA models to continuously assess the models’ skills and propose new developments for improving their scores.
* Develop efficient methods to quickly assess the skills of weather models and quantify their impacts on WMA models for power/gas trading activities.
* Collaborate on projects with hands‑on analysis and modelling to choose the right tool and right level of complexity to reach business objectives.
* Bring new ideas into the development of analytics and impactful visualization tools supporting WMA activities.
* Collaborate with IT and data engineering teams to industrialise models in a Cloud environment.
* Develop and maintain scripts to enable automation and process optimisation.
* Work in close collaboration with power, gas, LNG analysts and traders to extract maximum value from weather information.
* Work with Power trading desks and other stakeholders throughout the organisation to identify, prioritise and structure complex and unique problems where advanced analytics projects or tools can have the biggest impact.
Environment
You will be based on the Geneva trade floor, working in close collaboration with teams in Singapore, Houston, and Paris headquarters. The WMA team brings expertise in weather modelling at different spatial and temporal scales, supporting the growing integration of renewable energies and the fast development of AI weather models. You will operate in a fast‑evolving, high‑impact environment where uncertainties from both trading and the broader energy sector (climate change, energy mix evolution, new energy sources) require constant adaptation and innovation.
Profil du candidat
* Master’s degree or higher in mathematics, physics, meteorology, or a related field.
* Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in a highly quantitative role, ideally in energy trading with strong experience in data processing and analysis.
* Strong interest in weather modelling, forecasts, and datasets applied to energy.
* Proficient in data manipulation using tools such as Python (Pandas, NumPy), SQL, MongoDB or Spark, and understand best practices for data quality and transformation.
* Experience handling large weather model outputs (Grib, Parquet, NetCDF).
* Experience with database technologies (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, S3 bucket) and cloud environments (AWS: S3, EC2, Lambda, Glue, Redshift) strongly appreciated.
* Familiarity with GitHub for version control and collaborative development appreciated.
* Experience with Databricks and Apache Spark is a plus.
* Ability to work autonomously, demonstrate innovation, and thrive in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
* Strong communication skills, able to explain complex problems clearly.
* Fluent in English; knowledge of French is an advantage.
