Mercy Hands Europe (MHEU) is an international non-profit association based in Geneva, Switzerland, since 2019. Our mission is to empower vulnerable populations in disaster-affected areas, including Iraq, Syria, and Ethiopia, through sustainable projects and partnerships. We focus on education, protection, health, justice, agriculture, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), emergency response, and livelihoods.
Position: The Project Manager Intern (PMI) is responsible for managing ongoing development projects, ensuring their effective implementation and success, as well as contributing to the development and submission of new project proposals. A key component of the internship is leading and supporting fundraising efforts, including identifying funding opportunities, conducting donor research, and contributing to grant writing and partnership development. If required, the intern may also support the management of humanitarian projects.
This internship provides a unique opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in international project management, covering sustainability, social impact, humanitarian initiatives, and entrepreneurship. You will actively contribute to meaningful projects while developing practical skills in a dynamic, multicultural environment.
Duration: 6 months, part‑time
Working Hours: 25 hours/week
* In‑office: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday – 09:00–12:00 and 13:00–17:00
* Remote: Monday and Friday – 09:00–11:00

Stipend: CHF 150/month

Tasks and Responsibilities:
* Lead fundraising efforts and oversee grant management;
* Coordinating ongoing projects (if available);
* Create and Initiate new projects & activities;
* Maintain stakeholder engagement, manage social media communications, and represent MHEU in relevant forums;
* Support administrative processes or minor tasks assigned by the Executive Director and the Programme Coordinator.
Internship Objectives: By the end of the internship, you will gain experience in:
* Global project management in humanitarian and development contexts.
* Providing remote support to local partners.
* Fundraising and grants management.
* Effective communication with diverse stakeholders.
* Understanding local needs and interventions on the ground.
* Enrolled in a Master’s degree program in a related field.
* Excellent communication skills in English and French (C1-C2); additional languages are a plus.
* Strong social media management skills and high attention to detail.
* Problem‑solving and analytical skills.
* Proficient in MS Office, Canva, and Google Drive.
* Knowledge of project management and fundraising is an asset.
* Ability to work independently and as part of an international, multicultural team.
