The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) is hiring a
Risk Operations Officer
within the Risk Assessment and Operations unit.

This role is based in Basel, Switzerland however, thanks to our status as an international organization, we can hire globally and welcome applications from candidates of all nationalities and located anywhere in the world. Please note that this role is offered as a
three year fixed term contract.
Purpose Of The Job
Our mission is to support central banks' pursuit of monetary and financial stability through international partnership and to act as a bank for central banks.
As a Risk Operations Officer, you will contribute to this mission by executing all risk management operations, fostering a collaborative environment. You perform risk reporting to identify and to communicate financial risk developments to risk analysts and leadership, while also supporting the administrative and operational needs of the Risk Management team.

* Engage in a variety of tasks, including risk operations, reporting and control, systems management, and administrative support across Risk Management department and all levels of the BIS.

Principal Accountabilities
Risk operations and controls:
* Operates and maintains processes, policies, and controls for measuring the bank's financial risks and the balance sheet valuation.
* Runs the daily monitoring and controls of market, credit, and liquidity risks, as well as financial leverage and performance.
* Manage controls and mitigation of financial risks by ensuring compliance with established limits, identifying, and reporting policy exceptions, and ensuring proper documentation of the bank's risk frameworks and policies.
* Generate regular reports and graphs related to risk measures and performance.
Risk Management Systems
* Operate and maintain risk measurement systems across all financial risks, ensuring data integrity and up-to-date documentation.
* Manage counterparty data, including limits, ratings, and legal agreements, while monitoring settlement failures and taking appropriate actions.
Administrative Support For Risk Management Group
* Provide comprehensive administrative support to the Risk Management team and its line managers, including organizing business trips, managing expense claims, scheduling appointments, assisting visitors, and maintaining the Risk Management intranet pages.
* Provide assistance to Credit Risk Management Analysts in researching credit risk-related topics and in sourcing counterparty specific data. Carries out other administrative duties as assigned.
* Act as a central point of contact between internal/external stakeholders and the Head of Risk Management or line managers, handling and prioritizing communications, managing diaries, arranging meetings, and preparing related documentation.
* Coordinate Risk Management's involvement in working groups and committees by organizing meeting rooms, sending invitations, preparing agendas and materials, editing minutes, and managing information on internal platforms for information sharing.
Qualifications, Skills And Experience
* Relevant work experience in risk management, ideally within an international or multicultural organization
* A minimum of a two-year secretarial diploma, equivalent to a bachelor's degree, or relevant professional experience
* Strong analytical skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
* Able to critically scrutinise numbers, statements, and able to oversee complexity
* Able to work on own initiative, flexible and willing to take responsibility
* Strong organizational and time management skills, with a focus on accuracy, attention to details, and the ability to manage complexity
* Effective communication skills, multicultural sensitivity, and a proven ability to build positive client relationships
* A collaborative, team-oriented mindset
* Excellent written and spoken English. Another major international language an advantage
