For one of our clients in the banking industry, we are currently looking for a Data Engineer with expertise in Databricks, Python, and PySpark.
* Start Date: 01. January 2026
* Duration: 12 Months
* Location: Zurich (partially WFH is possible)
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and deliver high-impact, end-to-end data engineering projects that drive measurable business outcomes.
* Design, build, and optimize complex data pipelines using Databricks, Python, and PySpark to transform and analyze large-scale datasets from diverse sources.
* Experiment with and implement cloud-based data solutions to solve business challenges and enhance data accessibility.
* Collaborate closely with data scientists, product managers, and other stakeholders to develop and deploy data-driven applications — from proof-of-concept to production-ready solutions.
* Leverage cloud infrastructure (e.g., Databricks on Microsoft Azure) to advance the organization’s data engineering capabilities.
* Ensure performance, scalability, and efficiency through performance tuning and query optimization across large data environments.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
* Proven experience as a Data Engineer, with deep expertise in Databricks, Python, and PySpark.
* Strong proficiency in DataFrame APIs (Spark or Pandas) and solid SQL skills.
* Demonstrated ability to optimize queries and manage indexing for both RDBMS and Spark-based systems.
* Advanced knowledge of Python; experience with other scripting or functional languages (e.g., R, Bash) is a plus.
* Familiarity with the software development lifecycle, from design and development to deployment and maintenance.
* A proactive, analytical problem solver with a focus on delivering business value and improving user experience.
* Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
* Excellent command of spoken and written English.
Desired Skills and Qualifications
* Hands‑on experience with cloud technologies, particularly Microsoft Azure, Kubernetes, and Docker.
