Job Description
Your primary duties and responsibilities:
Leading technical projects
Design CAD sub-assemblies and interfaces to larger assemblies for optomechanical components, optoelectronic subsystems, and manufacturing processes
Perform rigorous tolerance analyses to ensure mechanical feasibility of the designs
Create detailed, tolerance 2D drawings with FAI (First Article Inspection) for optical & mechanical components based on design for manufacturing considering supplier's fabrication methods and metrology capabilities
Evaluate and select materials capable of achieving high-quality module performance while suitable for mass production
Travel to - and work with - overseas suppliers to manufacture components and assist with failure analysis
Understand the health, safety, and environmental requirements and regulations
Support high quality standards and practices according to ISO9001
Experience & Education
Your background:
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical or Optomechanical Engineering
Knowledge of mechanical and thermal properties of glass, plastic, metal, and electrical component materials commonly used in optical modules
Multidisciplinary background and process development combined with mechanical design is advantageous
Familiarity with CAD (SolidWorks) and PDM (3DExperience) software
Knowledge of epoxies and their material properties
Strong understanding of GD&T (Gesometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and mechanical metrology
Understanding the basic principles of optics, opto-mechanics and opto-electronics assembly in cleanroom conditions
Understand structural and thermal FEA (Finite Element Analysis) simulations to evaluate performance and reliability over a variety of conditions
3-5 years of similar experience preferred
Proficient German is preferred
Conditions
The position is 80% to 100% hours/week)
Onsite
The workplace is located at our headquarters near Zurich, Switzerland in Stettbach
The preferred starting date is as soon as possible (October/November 2025)
