Nestlé Research is based in Lausanne, Switzerland, employs approximately 1000 people and is comprised of five Nestlé Institutes: Food Sciences, Health Sciences, Food Safety & Analytical Sciences, Packaging Sciences, and Agricultural Sciences.
A Day in the Life of a Junior Research Assistant
* Maintenance and work with mammalian cell culture.
* Interact with core facilities for processing of experimental samples.
* Work closely with the scientists, research assistants, and students in coordinating research plans.
* Laboratory culture media/supplements/consumables stock management.
* Managing stock location.
* Managing usable duration.
* Communicating with other scientists to update the stock in the digital database.
* Replenishing stock.
* Processing of laboratory deliveries, receipt, storage, and notifications.
* Generation of cell culture media.
* Stock ingredients (chemicals/growth factors) preparations.
* Media preparation.
* Maintaining workplace standards.
* Assisting in major laboratory activities.
* Follow the laboratory Standard Operational Procedure (SOP).
What will make you successful
* Apprenticeships graduate / Bachelor's degree / Master's degree in biology/biotechnology/bio-engineering
* Minimum of 3-years of experience in Life Sciences / Biomedical
* Experience in “mammalian cell culture” is essential
* Experience in a laboratory environment is essential (cellular and molecular biology)
* Experience working in a sterile condition
* Experience working with bioreactors is a plus (but not required).
* Self-motivated, strong work ethic, team-working mindset
* Proficient in English, French is a plus.
