Background
We are looking for a dedicated Junior Process Data Scientist to join our Drug Substance Manufacturing unit in Basel. You will focus on the core technical aspects of Multivariate Data Analysis (MVDA): developing, validating, and maintaining robust models that contribute to our quality assurance.
The perfect candidate has a solid background in MVDA and a high-level understanding of biopharma processes. This role is ideal for someone in the early stages of their career.
Tasks & Responsibilities
Model Development - Design and build MVDA models for Drug Substance manufacturing processes.
Responsible for the end-to-end technical creation of the model structure.
Data Pre-processing & Curation - Apply rigorous data modeling techniques.
Ensure raw process data is correctly pre-processed to prevent false positive/false negative results.
Maintain the lifecycle of these models, ensuring accuracy over time as process baselines evolve.
Must Haves
Ideally a PhD in Chemical Engineering, Chemometrics, Statistics, or Biotechnology. Alternatively, a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree combined with relevant work experience
Minimum 2 years of experience in statistics
First professional/industry experiences
English and German at B2/C1 level
Nice to Haves
Familiarity with Open-DCP or similar modeling frameworks (e.g., SIMCA)
Knowledge of R programming language for statistical computing
Experience with Aveva PI System Explorer (OSIsoft) for data retrieval
