Optotune is a strongly growing and internationally active optics company based in Dietikon, Switzerland. We develop, manufacture and market the latest generation of adaptive optical elements for industrial‑and consumer markets.
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic intern to join our research and development team working on technology development. The content of this internship will be the development of new products with a focus on material questions. The R&D intern will work under the guidance of senior engineers to assist with ongoing research, development, and testing of new products. This is a full‑time internship position for a duration of a minimum 6 months, starting as soon as available.
Tasks
* Assistance in the development of new products with a focus on material questions
* Design of the software required to understand the materials aspects
* Conduction of test runs and analysis of experimental data using appropriate statistical methods and tools
* Collaboration with team members on the design of the products
* Participation in team meetings and contribution to team discussions and problem‑solving
* Maintenance of accurate and organized records of experimental data and results
* Development of small hardware components (electronics, firmware) is possible
Requirements
* Finished or currently enrolled in an MSc degree in material science, physics, mechanical, electrical, or optical engineering or a related field
* Experience in an optical, chemical, or similar laboratory
* Understanding basic optics and physics principles
* Some experience in programming and data analysis
* Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
* Ability to work independently and in a team environment
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
* Experience in electronics is a plus
