Tax and Finance Manager
On behalf of our client, a listed biopharmaceutical group based in the Luzern area, Swisslinx is looking for a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Tax & Finance Manager to act as the dedicated local expert for Swiss tax compliance and regulatory matters.
Tax and Finance Manager
Job description:
You will work closely with the global Finance & Accounting team (based in APAC and the U.S.), which leads core accounting operations, while taking primary responsibility for Swiss tax compliance, tax calculations, tax filings, and local regulatory requirements. You will ensure that the Swiss entity remains fully compliant with Swiss tax legislation and meets all applicable obligations.
This is a hands-on role requiring significant involvement in Swiss tax compliance, including the preparation and submission of VAT returns, corporate income tax returns, withholding tax matters, and employer-related taxes. We are specifically seeking someone who has personally managed Swiss tax compliance processes from start to finish rather than solely coordinating external advisors. This role is particularly suited to a candidate with deep expertise in Swiss tax matters who can combine technical knowledge with a pragmatic, hands-on approach.
As the sole finance representative in Switzerland, this role requires a high level of autonomy and comfort working independently in a small, growing local setup.
Key Responsibilities
Act as the primary finance contact for the Swiss entity
Lead and manage Swiss tax compliance, including corporate income tax, VAT, withholding tax, and employer-related taxes
Prepare, review, and submit Swiss tax filings, including VAT returns, corporate income tax returns, and related disclosures
Maintain ownership of tax calculations, supporting schedules, reconciliations, and compliance documentation
Coordinate directly with the Swiss Federal Tax Administration and external tax advisors
Manage routine tax compliance processes internally while partnering with advisors on complex or specialised tax matters
Lead and coordinate applications for available Swiss tax incentive programmes, including preparation of supporting documentation and liaison with relevant authorities
Monitor developments in Swiss tax legislation and assess their impact on the business
Support the global Finance & Accounting team with local accounting and reporting requirements
Provide Swiss-specific inputs and documentation for group reporting purposes
Serve as the key liaison between Swiss operations and global finance teams (U.S. and APAC)
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field
Swiss professional qualification in accounting or taxation preferred (e.g. dipl. Steuerexperte, dipl. Experte in Rechnungslegung und Controlling, ACCA, CPA)
6–8+ years of experience in tax and accounting, with significant hands-on exposure to Swiss VAT and corporate income tax compliance
Proven experience preparing tax calculations and managing Swiss tax filings from start to finish
Experience interacting directly with tax authorities and external advisors
Strong knowledge of Swiss tax regulations, including VAT, withholding tax, corporate income tax, and employer-related taxes
Proven experience working in a multinational environment and collaborating with international finance teams
Familiarity with US GAAP is an advantage
Experience with SAP would be a plus
Fluent in English and German
CH/EU national, or holder of a valid Swiss work permit
