Applications Manager
The Applications Manager is responsible for ensuring continuity and guaranteeing the quality of the Applications, as well as managing the Application system maintenance activities, which include:
Ensuring the proper functioning of applications and that they can be maintained and upgraded
Proposing methods to increase optimization and efficiency, to enable technical upgrades of the applications
Applying the guidelines of the obsolescence management plan
Deploying the continuity of service action plan, including Disaster Recovery and Live Play
In a nutshell, this position serves as a Technical Delivery role. The Applications Manager must have a strong Technical background in Security/Risks, Applications Obsolescence topics, with good documentation, communications and coordination skills, and experience in a Core Banking environment .
Key Responsibilities
1. Guarantees the proper functioning of applications and ensures they can be maintained and upgraded.
Incident Management – Responsible for addressing recurring incidents by working with relevant teams to recommend permanent solutions.
Ensures long‑term remediation for incidents and problems is integrated into the Application roadmap and implemented.
Applications Security Management – Ensures the Application Sensitivity and IT Continuity document is properly and promptly completed and renewed as stipulated by Group requirements.
Ensures non‑compliance to IT risk & cyber requirements are addressed or remediated, and associated risks are identified and covered by a risk card if necessary.
Ensures application and security vulnerabilities and non‑compliance to engineering and architecture rules are addressed or remediated, with associated risks identified and covered by a risk card.
Complies with and ensures the application of best practices regarding engineering rules, CI/CD, architecture rules, and safety standards.
Manages the lifecycle of applications and their components according to the guidelines of the obsolescence management plan .
Suppliers’ Management – Maintains suppliers’ relationships, suppliers’ compliance to contractual obligations, and third‑party risk management assessment.
Application Release Management – Controls and updates Applications/New Release versions in Relman (Release Manager tool).
Application Release Management – Ensures the consistency of the released version: updated documentation such as the architecture diagram, technical data dictionary; manages configuration to ensure data consistency in all referential apps (e.g., Refapp, MAP, CMDB, BAM+, cloud register) and accuracy in the application parent/instance links between referential apps.
Receives new versions and releases and ensures up‑to‑date product documentation and troubleshooting guides are provided.
2. Reports and alerts management of applications.
Reports on the overall state of applications, alerts stakeholders to the risks the applications are exposed to, together with their mitigation, to the Application review committee.
Reports and alerts regarding deadlines, budgets, and resources to carry out the application action plan.
3. Proposes preventive action plans and areas for improvement to increase optimization and efficiency.
4. Deploys the continuity of service action plans for optimisation.
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or an IT discipline
At least 3 years of relevant experience in the banking industry (MUST HAVE)
Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in applications asset management in an IT software development industry
At least 2 years of functional knowledge in core banking, creating architecture diagrams, with a strong analysis of networks, applications, and integration points
Strong IT security, cybersecurity and risk management background is essential
Strong experience in supplier management, release management, incident management, security area management (MUST HAVE)
Strong experience and skills in communication and documentation
Technical hands‑on experience in Postgres SQL, Linux/AS400, IBM Cloud, Apache, JBoss, MQ messaging, Kafka messaging, HTTP RESY APIs, CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, microservices architecture, container‑managed solutions
Singapore citizens are highly preferred
