We are seeking a proactive and commercially driven Business Developer Raw Materials to expand our client's footprint across the European market.
You will be responsible for identifying trading opportunities, developing client relationships, and executing physical ethanol deals - with a focus on both industrial and fuel-grade applications.
Fluency in English and German is essential to operate effectively across key European markets.
Responsibilities
1. Sales & Business Development: Define and execute go-to-market strategies by geography, customer segment, and sales channel. Manage and grow sales with existing European customers in the ethanol segments. Identify and pursue new business opportunities. Build and maintain daily contact with key accounts and prospects; conduct regular client visits (5 days/month). Develop marketing materials and sales presentations tailored to customer needs.
2. Market Intelligence & Reporting: Lead structured reporting on customer interactions, market developments, and competitor activity. Present quarterly and annual sales plans based on systematic mapping of European demand. Improve internal reporting tools and processes in coordination with marketing, operations, IT, and finance.
3. Contract Execution & Operations: Draft, review, and issue commercial contracts. Supervise operators to ensure timely and accurate deal execution. Monitor stock levels, forecast supply needs, and coordinate shipping. Oversee blending and denaturing operations, ensuring compliance and quality.
4. Quality & Risk Management: Understand and align customer quality requirements with supplier specifications. Identify blending and arbitrage opportunities. Oversee vessel vetting processes with operators and inspection companies.
5. Regulatory Oversight: Stay informed about relevant EU regulations including excise duties, customs duties, denaturants, REACH compliance, and sector-specific regulations. Coordinate internal research and compliance efforts.
Candidate Profile
* German & English speaker, both oral and written; French is a plus.
* Proven commercial acumen with experience in business development or sales of physical products.
* Entrepreneurial mindset with strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
* Drive to succeed in a fast-paced international trading environment.
* Willingness to learn ethanol trading specifics and navigate complex regulations.
* Open to candidates with experience in selling physical products (not services) and willing to travel one week per month.
