Software Engineer
DevOps Engineer
Responsibilities
* Design, implement, automate, and manage scalable infrastructure and cloud-native platform services
* Contribute to the development of Kubernetes-based AI/ML and HPC platforms, including CI/CD, GitOps, observability, security, and operational tools
* Collaborate with researchers and engineers to support complex workflows, resolve production environment issues, and improve reliability and performance
* Contribute to platform engineering, automation, and developer productivity initiatives across constantly evolving systems and services
* Read and evaluate technologies and areas listed below to determine relevant experience (experience in only some of these areas is expected)
Requirements
* Curiosity, a hands‑on approach, and a desire to gain a thorough understanding of systems
* A strong engineering mindset and a knack for problem‑solving
* An aptitude for learning new technologies and working across disciplines
* Excellent communication skills and a team‑oriented approach
* Excellent command of English and a good command of Italian
How to stand out
* Experience in supporting research or scientific computing environments
* Familiarity with HPC systems and services
* Experience with GPU clusters and accelerated computing
* Experience with SRE practices or on‑call operations
* Advanced knowledge of Linux security
* Ability to leverage AI‑assisted software development to increase productivity
Technical environment and areas of interest
* Linux systems engineering, scripting, troubleshooting, and software development (e.g., Python, Bash)
* Containers, Kubernetes, CI/CD, GitOps, and Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, Helm, Ansible, ArgoCD)
* Distributed systems, APIs, scalability, observability, identity and access management, and security
* AI/ML platforms and supporting infrastructure services
* HPC systems, GPU clusters, and large‑scale infrastructure environments
* Platform engineering and developer productivity tools
* Secure or privacy‑sensitive operating environments
Job details
* Place of work: Lugano, with Zürich as an alternative
* Working hours: 80–100%
* Immediate start; fixed‑term contract until 27 May 2027
