Legal Counsel (m/f/d)
Responsibilities & Qualifications
What awaits you:
As Legal Counsel in the Novelis Europe legal department, reporting directly to the Regional General Counsel, you will manage European legal issues and serve as a legal advisor on contract management, compliance, and dispute resolution. Your detailed responsibilities include:
1. Acting as the main legal contact for various business functions (Sales, Procurement, Sustainability) and Novelis operational plants in Switzerland, Germany, UK, and Italy by providing practical legal and contractual advice; consulting on complex legal issues; supporting strategic legal matters.
2. Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a range of agreements including Supply and Services Agreements, Terms & Conditions, NDAs, Cooperation Agreements, and other legal documents.
3. Driving compliance by monitoring legal and regulatory developments in Europe, implementing appropriate legal actions to mitigate risks, and collaborating with the corporate compliance team on related matters.
4. Leading negotiations and legal as well as cross-functional projects.
5. Conducting internal training on legal, regulatory, and contractual topics.
6. Engaging in cross-border and international legal matters.
7. Managing external counsel and litigation processes.
How you convince us:
* You hold a law degree (MLaw or similar) and are admitted to the bar in Switzerland or Germany, or a comparable jurisdiction.
* You have at least 5 years of post-qualification experience, ideally within a law firm or as in-house counsel.
* You possess expertise in contract law and commercial law topics such as sales, procurement, competition law, and corporate law.
* You have or are strongly interested in compliance issues (regulatory and business compliance) and sustainability-related matters.
* You are proficient in English and German; French is a plus.
* You are highly motivated, capable of working independently and within a team.
