Education and Professional Qualifications
* Nurse generalist diploma (Level II) or HES degree
* Qualifications in holistic, integrative approaches (a plus)
Experience, Knowledge and Skills
* Experience in a nursing care unit, accident/emergency department or similar setting
* Experience with young adults in a multicultural and multilingual environment
* Aptitude in dealing with diversity in a team setting
* Experience in mental health / psychiatric facility is a plus
* Patient and service oriented
* Pro-active, flexible and empathetic personality
* Autonomy and discretion
* Excellent communication and intercultural skills
* Excellent English and strong spoken and written French
* Good IT and systems skills
Purpose
As a member of the Health & Wellbeing Department (nurse, counsellor) and situated in the Dean of Students Pillar, the Campus Nurse contributes to the overall mission of being committed to the holistic development of students through quality, student‑centred support services and resources to enrich the student experience and to promote student success and wellbeing. The role aims to foster a healthy and safe campus environment for students, enhance their educational potential, and facilitate resolution of health concerns that impact learning.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care & Triage:
* Conduct assessments of students’ physical, mental, and emotional health.
* Provide triage, evaluation, and treatment for illness and injuries.
* Administer first‑aid and emergency medical response.
* Administer prescribed medications and ensure accurate documentation.
* Monitor chronic conditions and develop individualized health plans.
* Maintain confidential medical records in accordance with regulations.
* Support students returning from hospitalization or medical leave.
Case Management & Student Support:
* Identify health concerns that may affect academic success.
* Collaborate with Academic Support to facilitate accommodations.
* Provide health counselling and follow‑up for ongoing medical issues.
* Coordinate referrals to medical specialists and mental health providers.
* Support international students navigating the Swiss healthcare system.
* Communicate with parents/sponsors only with explicit student consent.
Prevention, Education & Health Promotion:
* Develop and deliver educational programs on health topics.
* Organize prevention events including awareness days, workshops, and guest speakers.
* Promote healthy behaviours and self‑management.
* Provide staff training related to medical protocols and emergencies.
Consultation & Cross-Department Collaboration:
* Recommend improvements to campus procedures related to health and safety.
* Establish and update preventive procedures and protocols.
* Collaborate with campus security, residence life, counselling, faculty, and management.
* Advise leadership on health‑related incidents and emerging trends.
* Coordinate with insurance providers to ensure appropriate coverage for students.
Administration & Service Management:
* Participate in development and evaluation of health services.
* Ensure compliance with medical confidentiality and data protection laws.
* Maintain medical supplies, equipment, and emergency kits.
* Contribute to reporting, documentation, and policy updates.
