Cloud Engineer – Freelance – Zurich

Contract Duration: 6 months + possible extension
Our client, a global financial services firm, is seeking a hands-on Cloud Engineer to support their finance data & analytics transition to Microsoft Azure. You’ll work across infrastructure, observability, and automation in a small, agile team driving modern cloud solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and deploy Azure infrastructure using Terraform
2. Manage Kubernetes clusters and Azure subscriptions
3. Improve system observability and troubleshoot performance (e.g., Databricks)
4. Support third-party SaaS apps (e.g., Tagetik)
5. Collaborate on architecture and Infrastructure as Code
6. Maintain clean, up-to-date documentation
7. Contribute to automation and DevOps improvements
8. Provide 3rd-level support during critical incidents
Requirements:
* Proven experience in Microsoft Azure and Terraform
* Software engineering background (Python or Java preferred)
* Scripting skills (PowerShell/Bash), Git knowledge
* Familiar with networking, security, RDBMS, Kubernetes
* Strong communication and problem-solving skills
* Degree in Computer Science or related field
* Fluent in English
