The role of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Design and Compliance Engineer is crucial in ensuring that safety impacts are evaluated throughout the project lifecycle. This involves implementing EHS requirements at all stages of an investment project, aligning with policies, procedures, and legal regulations.
This position focuses on evaluating safety impacts from feasibility studies to detailed design, while applying Lonza's EHS procedures, particularly within the GE Growth project and Visp CAPEX initiatives. The EHS Design and Compliance Engineer actively fosters a strong EHS culture within CAPEX and investment projects.
Responsibilities
* Ensure compliance with fire protection requirements in accordance with VKF Guideline 12 Fire Prevention and Organizational Fire Protection on assigned construction sites.
* Coordinate between internal and external fire protection departments, authorities, emergency services, specialist planners, engineering, etc.
* Evaluate internal fire protection measures within the framework of construction site continuity.
* Advise project teams, clients, fire protection, and specialist planners during planning, execution, acceptance, and initial commissioning.
* Support ensuring the completeness of all conformity and declarations of conformity for ongoing and completed projects.
* Carry out BS audits independently and define measures for operators.
For the Environment main accountabilities:
* Assess environmental impact of new plants in terms of exhaust air, wastewater, waste, noise, and resource consumption in collaboration with project engineers.
* Define measures to reduce environmental impact to a minimum.
* Summarize results in an environmental impact report for authorities as part of the construction permit submission.
* Participate in risk analyses related to environmental topics.
The ideal candidate will have:
* Masters in Pharmaceutical Technology, Chemistry, Process Engineering, or equivalent.
* Strong communication skills in German and English, both verbal and written.
* Excellent presentation skills for developing and delivering training to elevate knowledge, skills, and behaviors.
* Proven process understanding of design safety and legal safety demands in the pharmaceutical environment.
