Following the retirement of the Road sector manager, we are looking for the Works and Environment department
Main tasks:
- Lead, supervise and coordinate a team of 13 employees
- Plan, organise and oversee the daily work of employees
- Ensure waste collection, cleaning, snow clearance as well as public domain development and maintenance work (fountains, street furniture, shelters, etc.)
- Manage snow clearance and salting operations, on-call service and emergency interventions
- Plan, monitor and control work carried out internally by the team and, where applicable, by external contractors
- Manage the vehicle fleet, machinery and equipment, as well as the purchase of materials and raw materials
- Participate in the preparation of budgets and estimates, ensure financial monitoring and administrative management of the road sector
- Work closely with other municipal departments, notably for event organisation and the needs of other services
- Prepare reports and recommendations for the Municipality
- Organise and ensure ongoing training of employees
- Ensure compliance with safety, occupational health and current standards
- Represent the road service at meetings, sessions and official events
Required knowledge and skills:
- Technical training in public works, road construction or civil engineering, or a Federal VET Diploma in a building trade or equivalent qualification
- Proven experience in a similar position, preferably within the technical department of a public administration
- Experience in team leadership, with the ability to unite and motivate employees
- Good knowledge of seasonal road activities, especially winter service
- Strong organisational skills, particularly for planning and managing winter service
- Ability to plan, organise and prioritise activities and resources
- Comfortable with common IT tools
- Organisational skills, reliability, professionalism, autonomy, practical mindset and proactive attitude
- Excellent leadership and team management skills
- Public service spirit and ability to maintain very good relations with the population and users, contributing to the good image of the municipal administration
- Availability for irregular hours, emergency interventions outside normal hours and participation in winter service
- Category B driving licence mandatory, categories C and forklift licence an advantage
- Residence located within a maximum of 20 minutes by car from the workplace (response time)
- Clean criminal record
- Swiss nationality or valid C residence permit
