Job Summary
Allied World Assurance Company, AG is looking for an experienced Property Underwriter to join our European Reinsurance Treaty Division based in our Zug office.
Duties and Responsibilities
·Underwrite new and renewal property treaty submissions in compliance with underwriting guidelines, systems and procedures.
·Meet regularly with clients and brokers (including required business travel) to discuss existing business, client service and potential areas of development.
·Set appropriate terms and conditions following the Company business strategy to quote and indicate on selected risks.
·Price and analyse coverage, structure and exposures for a variety of reinsurance products (Proportional and Non-Proportional).
·Exercise proper underwriting pricing and discipline to meet profitability goals, complying with underwriting guidelines, systems and procedures.
·Responsible for pricing defined accounts via in-house modelling tools and working closely with actuarial pricing team.
·Liaise with Claims, Accounting, IT, Legal and other internal departments as required.
·Actively manage all aspects of a reinsurance portfolio including claims, trends, market issues and audits (where needed).
·Liaise with Claims department on any specific events and losses.
·Process contracts in the TIRS (reinsurance) underwriting system.
·Input and manage the Portal system and Public Folders, for the portfolio underwritten.
·Maintain files and underwriting records in accordance with procedure and ensure all information is saved and named properly.
·Stay current with respects to major Industry trends, issues and developments.
·Other ad hoc duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Person Specification
·10+ years’ experience of treaty reinsurance (underwriting or broking).
·German and English speaking.
·Established expertise with RI products (particularly Property).
·Broad Broker and Client relationships in Europe required with the ability to generate new relationships with brokers and cedants.
·Contract wording expertise and an in depth understanding of actuarial and cat modelling pricing techniques are beneficial.
·Excellent negotiation skills.
·Strong communication skills required and comfortable working within an underwriting team sharing views on risk, strategy and market trends.
·Ability to multitask, work independently to deadlines and solve problems. Must be highly organized, accurate and detail oriented.
