A Day in the Life
Medtronic is hiring a Principal Market Development Specialist for Spinal Cord Stimulation (SCS) to lead strategic initiatives across international markets aimed at expanding access and accelerating adoption of this life-changing therapy for patients living with chronic pain.
This is a highly visible and cross-functional role where you will shape the growth trajectory of one of Medtronic’s key neuromodulation therapies in international markets
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:
* Owns the market development plan and collaborate with local teams to localize & implement in countries including Western Europe, Japan, China, and Australia, outline barriers to patient access and therapy adoption. Use PAA methodology as a key tool for Market Assessment (internal tool), gain understanding of local barriers to therapy adoption across geographies, including structural and behavioral barriers as well as cultural differences
* Develop tactics and overarching strategy for improving patient access and/or therapy adoption by addressing common structural, therapy readiness and behavioral barriers, understand patient care pathways for therapy from initial onset of symptoms through intervention and follow-up, and identify opportunities to improve, develop content for different stakeholders in line with global collaboration
* Understand customer needs including voice of patient and direct to patient approaches, identify referral pathway and address areas along the pathway where patients are being held or lost, while also developing strategies and tactics for improving patient identification along the care pathway
* Partner with communications and multi-channel marketing teams to activate integrated marketing plan and field-based strategies to enable market development, collaborate with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), non-implanting specialists, and medical societies to advance therapy awareness and establish clinical guidance and pathways, as well as with local functions (health economics & reimbursement, clinical, regulatory,..) to provide inputs to market access strategy in different geographies as needed
* Act as a subject matter expert and internal champion for SCS referral market dynamics, identify how patients, providers, and economic stakeholders understand and talk about the disease state and therapy options, and develop and execute tactics for improving patient disease and treatment awareness, track progress against key market development KPIs and inform future investments.
Required Knowledge And Experience
* Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in science, engineering, marketing, or business.
* 7+ years of experience in healthcare marketing, business development, or market development roles, ideally within medical devices, neuromodulation, or pain therapies.
* Proven track record of driving therapy adoption or new market development in international or emerging markets within cross-functional teams across geographies, including sales, clinical, regulatory, and upstream/downstream marketing, with a demonstrated ability to conduct market opportunity assessments, identify therapy adoption barriers, and build go-to-market strategies.
* Strong analytical skills, including the ability to synthesize clinical, market, and competitive data into actionable insights, as well as collaborating with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and medical societies to shape referral education strategies and address unmet clinical needs.
* Experience managing or supporting educational initiatives, referral mapping, or therapy awareness programs, excellent communication, presentation skills aimed at complex stakeholder management, both internally within the organization and externally
* Fluency in English, with good command of other European languages considered a plus
* Willingness to travel internationally up to 30%.
