Description
The Interconnections Engineer-I will be responsible for creating schematic drawings, including site plans and one-line diagrams, for submission to utility providers to obtain interconnection approvals. The Interconnections Engineer will work closely with electrical and civil engineers, utility representatives and Project Development to ensure timely and accurate submissions for interconnection agreements. Layouts to be performed in AutoCAD.
Requirements
* Develop detailed schematic drawings, including site plans and one-line diagrams, for utility interconnection applications.
* Review utility requirements and technical specifications to ensure all necessary data is captured in the submissions.
* Coordinate with internal engineering teams to gather required technical information for interconnection designs.
* Ensure that all designs comply with local utility standards, codes, and regulations.
* Submit interconnection drawings and documentation to Utility team and follow up on approval status.
* Address any issues or feedback from utilities regarding interconnection submissions and make necessary revisions to designs.
* Provide technical support and guidance on interconnection processes to project teams and external stakeholders.
* Maintain accurate records of all interconnection projects, including design revisions, approval statuses, and correspondence.
* Stay updated on industry standards, regulations, and emerging technologies related to interconnection processes.
* Closely collaborate with project development and construction teams in the design, development and construction of Solar PV systems
* Maintain a culture of continuous improvement and problem solving
* Have a high degree of familiarity with the National Electric Code Book regarding PV Solar Systems.
Required Education And Experience
* Bachelor’s and/or degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university
* 2+ years of experience in solar PV system design and US utilities
* Must be proficient in AutoCAD and related Autodesk software, as well as HelioScope
* Must be proficient in solar performance modeling software
* Demonstrated electrical, structural and mechanical design skills, and the ability to generate accurate, highly detailed construction drawings.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.

* Good problem solving and critical thinking abilities and a proactive work ethic. Must take accountability of own body of work, closing each project by design completion efficiently, while maintaining accuracy and strict attention to detail.
* Strong ability to apply innovative and creative skills to problem solving
* Experience with on-site troubleshooting of technology and automation of manual processes
* Knowledge of National Electric Code is preferred
