Join our team at Hitachi Energy as a Strategic Buyer (Junior) where you will manage local category and indirect material spend, develop resilient and sustainable sourcing strategies, and drive excellence in quality, delivery, and compliance across Hub Europe and Business Unit components.
The opportunity
As part of the Supply Chain team, you will be responsible for managing the local category and indirect material spend, creating compliant and sustainable sourcing strategies to achieve total cost of ownership and supply performance goals.
How You’ll Make An Impact
* Analyze local category spend and market dynamics, benchmark against other hubs, and assess market positioning.
* Define, optimize and improve sourcing strategies in line with business needs and Hitachi Energy procedures and regulations.
* Lead tender/order RFx and negotiations, sign and monitor frame agreements and SLAs, and represent the voice of the customer during supplier audits.
* Control costs by understanding spend, conducting cost breakdown analysis, and running regular benchmarks.
* Oversee supplier relationships, including qualification, classification, performance management, and improvement initiatives.
* Demonstrate supply base resilience through monitoring material availability and implementing risk mitigation plans.
* Collaborate with cross‑functional teams on projects to add value in total cost of ownership, risk mitigation, quality, cash, lead time, and material availability.
Your background
* Self‑starter with high learning agility, quick comprehension, and a pragmatic implementation orientation.
* Flexibility and a high level of commitment.
* More than 2 years overall experience in a production environment, purchasing, and general factory process knowledge.
* Experience in manufacturing, railway, or electro‑mechanical industry as a Strategic Buyer is a plus.
* Strong negotiation skills, including knowledge of the legal aspects of contracts.
* Proven experience in developing and implementing supplier related processes such as qualification, development, and performance measurement.
* Knowledge of machined and turned parts processes is an asset.
* Excellent conflict handling, interpersonal, multi‑cultural, negotiation and influencing skills; clear communication and business savvy.
* Business travel required (10%, day trips).
* Proficiency in German and English.
