Responsibilities
Participate in public consultations of the UBI in Bern about 10 days a year, assess complaints against radio and television contributions in the 9‑person committee and vote for approval or dismissal.
Prepare UBI consultations, in particular produce speeches for the assigned complaint cases.
Assist in circular decisions and in the selection and oversight of the ombuds offices of private broadcasting operators.
Qualifications
Legal or comparable academic training.
Several years of experience in journalism or comparable knowledge of media.
Independence according to the legal requirements for extra‑parliamentary commissions of the federal government.
Excellent active skills in at least one second official language and passive skills in a third official language.
Integrity, conscientiousness, decisiveness, and willingness to perform.
Role Context
As a member of the UBI, your arguments and vote influence the outcome of complaint proceedings. The members are elected by the Federal Council. The composition of the UBI must consider balance and independence (Art. 57e §§ 2 and 3 of the Government and Administrative Organization Act).

Bern (and Homeoffice) | 15–15%
Employment type: 4‑year contract with a term limit of 12 years. Salary: remuneration in accordance with Attachment 2, clause 2 of the RVOV (and Art. 8p and 8q RVOV).
