The Opportunity
Reporting to the Quarry Manager, you will build and develop a motivated team to achieve company safety, environmental and financial targets. You will assist to produce quality products that are fit for purpose, meet business forecasts, engage with the local community, and oversee drilling, blasting, pit development, processing and dispatch of finished goods that meet regulatory and community expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Share the lead with the management team in implementing SHE policies, principles and directives and comply with all relevant safety, health and environmental legislation.
Promote a safe system of work and a strong safety culture in the workplace.
Lead site operations which include pit, production and maintenance.
Ensure site compliance with relevant environmental legislation, development consent, environmental licence conditions and Company policies.
Manage the recruitment and development of a highly focused and motivated team.
Manage the fixed plant maintenance to ensure assets are effectively maintained in accordance with group standards and that records are maintained correctly.
Manage the weighbridge function including compliance with legal loading limits for trucks, Fatigue and Chain of Responsibility legislation.
Identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies and implement changes.
About You
Diploma in Extractive Industries (preferred) with a Certificate IV in Surface Extraction Operations as a minimum qualification.
Practising Certificate for Tier 1 Quarry or a minimum Practising Certificate for Tier 2 Quarry with the ability to work towards obtaining Tier 1.
Credible experience in a Quarry Management role (preferred), although relevant experience in related sectors may be considered.
Knowledge of relevant legislation.
A strong belief in safety, health and environment.
Knowledge of product quality issues.
Sound communication skills.
Strong leadership skills and a demonstrated ability to effect change.
Proven capabilities to self-manage.
Ability to build working relationships with multiple stakeholders.
Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
