As we expand our trading activities, we are seeking a hands-on and detail-oriented
Trade Operations & Documentary Credit Specialist
who thrives in a lean, entrepreneurial environment.
Role Overview
You will play a central role in managing the
end-to-end execution and operational support
of physical trades across our Agri and Energy books. Your responsibilities will span from trade execution and shipping coordination to documentation and trade finance. You will work closely with front office, clients, suppliers, banks, and third-party service providers to ensure timely and efficient trade settlements.
The ideal candidate has experience at a startup or boutique trading firm, understands the operational dynamics of niche Agri/Energy products, and is looking to grow within a commercially driven, high-performance culture.
Key Responsibilities
· Manage the full
post-trade lifecycle
for physical commodity trades, with a focus on:
o
Coffee, fertilizer, biofuels, vegetable oils, and refined oil products
· Prepare and review
Letters of Credit
, shipping documentation, and contracts in compliance with Incoterms and financing terms.
· Coordinate with
logistics providers, inspectors, agents, warehouses
, and clients to ensure smooth physical execution.
· Monitor cargo movement and documentation to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and timelines.
· Liaise with
banks and trade finance providers
to manage transaction flows, credit lines, and risk mitigation instruments.
· Assist the trading team with
counterparty onboarding, KYC, and compliance documentation
.
· Identify and improve internal systems and workflows as part of ongoing operational development.
· Provide
commercial and client insight
to support the front office in decision-making and strategic planning.
Profile & Requirements
·
2–5 years of experience
in trade operations and documentary credits within a commodity trading firm or bank, ideally with exposure to
Agri and/or Energy products
.
· Experience working in a
startup or fast-growing trading environment
is highly valued.
· Proficient in handling
LCs, SBLCs, and trade finance documentation
.
· Familiarity with shipping terms, demurrage, warehousing, and export/import regulatory requirements.
· Proactive mindset, with strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple counterparties and timelines.
· Strong Excel and trade system skills; knowledge of Aspect - CTRM is a plus.
· Fluency in
English
is required;
French, Spanish or other langauges
are advantageous due to trade corridors.
· Based in or willing to relocate to
Geneva
, (CH or EU citizens only) with openness to occasional travel if required.
