Overview
The University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI) announces, at the Department of Innovative Technologies (DTI), located in Lugano, within the Institute of Systems and Technologies for Sustainable Production (ISTePS), a position as Assistant with master’s degree in Sustainability of Industrial Processes. Employment rate 100%. Start date 01.10.2025 or date to be agreed upon.
Responsibilities and Activities
* Carry out applied research activities for the assessment of environmental and social sustainability in industrial contexts.
* Analyse and model industrial products and processes in order to evaluate their environmental and social impacts.
* Support the selection and use of suitable software tools for the accurate measurement of environmental and social performance of products and processes.
* Conduct integrated analyses of the environmental and social performance of companies and organizations, in compliance with regulations in force, to identify areas of improvement and contribute to sustainable strategic positioning.
* Provide support in drafting environmental and social sustainability reports, ensuring a clear and accessible interpretation of the results for internal and external stakeholders.
* Perform studies on sustainable and circular Business Models drawing from literature data or partner companies to guide strategic positioning choices.
* Contribute to research activities on the above-mentioned topics within national and European research projects.
* Participate in national and European project meetings, sharing with partners the results of activities and progress achieved.
* Support the implementation of innovation projects with local companies, through mandates aimed at sustainable transition.
Requirements
* Master’s degree (MSc or MSE) in Engineering, preferably with specialization in Business Engineering, Management Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related fields.
* Knowledge of environmental and social sustainability aspects in manufacturing contexts.
* Experience in using software and databases for the calculation and critical analysis of the environmental (according to the Life Cycle Assessment – LCA – methodology) and social impacts of products and production processes.
* Ability to integrate environmental and social sustainability analyses into reports for organizations and production units, in line with widely used protocols (e.g. GRI, GHG Protocol).
* Initiative, flexibility, and aptitude for working in multidisciplinary and multicultural contexts.
* Ability to collaborate and interact in international contexts.
* Aptitude for independent work and decision-making ability.
* Excellent knowledge of English
* Proficiency in Italian and in a second national language is considered an asset.
