Basic Function
Assembles and tests oilfield instrument systems from early phase research & feasibility studies to field-ready prototype systems. Applies electrical technician expertise to improve assembly and test processes. Independently executes assembly and testing of prototype oilfield instruments under the guidance of engineering and/or scientist supervision.
Duties & Responsibilities
1. Responsible for assembly and testing of prototype oilfield instrument systems, focusing on the electronic subsystems therein.
2. Recommend improvements to design of oilfield instrument systems based on assembly and testing.
3. Create assembly fixtures, assembly procedures, and assembly documentation for oilfield instrument systems.
4. Create test fixtures, test procedures, and test documentation for oilfield instrument systems.
5. Independently execute testing of oilfield instrument systems and communicate results to colleagues.
6. Interpret and edit engineering documentation, including: PCBA schematics, wiring diagrams, assembly procedures, test procedures, mechanical drawings, and laboratory process workflow.
7. Proficient with electronic assembly and test equipment, including: soldering stations, oscilloscopes, power supplies, function generators, digital multimeters, etc.
8. Serve as a technical reference for other technicians.
9. Observe safety rules, take action on hazards and report these items to Unit supervisor.
Education and Experience
10. Minimum two (2) college or an Associate Degree in related-science major required.
11. Nine (9) years industrial research lab experience. Complete familiarity of standard laboratory practices.
12. Electronics/electrical technician + mechanical technician + testing experience desired
13. Experience in energy sector, oil & gas services, or aerospace desired.
14. Must be able to communicate and comprehend accurately, clearly and concisely in English at a level required to perform the job as outlined.
15. Good interpersonal and communication skills. Proficient technical writing skills.
16. Must possess good work habits, a strong work ethic, and be able to adhere to company work hours, policies, and standard business etiquette.
