Job Description

Your responsibilities

The Engineering (EN ) Department's Information Management (IM) group is looking for an early-career Engineer who is skilled is the domains of CAD and PLM, enjoys helping others, and is eager to learn new things. You will join a young and international team of application engineers and business analysts inside the group's PLM Service team, with the mission to support, improve and digitalise the organisation's engineering processes.

The PLM Service team provides tools with engineering information management capabilities for the entire accelerator complex and its detectors. These includes notably managing millions of engineering documents, product definitions and CAD (Computer Aided Design) designs.

We are currently in a challenging project of modernizing the existing landscape of heterogenous engineering applications by bringing it to the next level, allowing the Organization to move forward towards integrated digital processes and engineering Digital Twins. As of today, over 5000 users depend on the software provided by the group.

In your work, you will:

* Provide CAD and PLM expertise, by advising on best practices and resolving problems.
* Capture user needs and elaborate solutions with specifications and processes that can be implemented with our tools.
* Contribute to the work analysing, improving and documenting engineering workflows and procedures.
* Perform validation testing of the systems and newly developed features.
* Be part of a unique project, empowering teams from the entire CERN engineering community.

Your profile

Skills:

* Experience in using one or several mechanical 3D CAD tools, such as CATIA V5 or similar (Creo, Siemens NX, etc).
* Knowledge of Business Analysis such as needs and requirements analysis, process modelling, etc.
* Excellent communication and problem solving skills.
* Genuine interest in helping, sharing knowledge and training others.
* Spoken and written English, with a commitment to learn French.
* By the application deadline, you have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Engineering (or a related field) and your highest educational qualification is either a Bachelor's or Master's degree.
* You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
* Applicants without University degree are not eligible.
* Applicants with a PhD are not eligible.


Additional Information

Contract duration: 24 months, with a possible extension up to 36 months maximum.

This position involves:

* Work during nights, Sundays and official holidays, when required by the needs of the Organization.
