Your Responsibilities
Collect, clean and prepare structured and unstructured data from different internal sources to enable analysis, modelling and reporting
Perform exploratory data analysis to uncover patterns, trends and opportunities across different business areas
Develop and prototype data-driven and LLM-based solutions using Python, vector databases and modern ML/GenAI techniques
Collaborate with domain experts and colleagues from the Technology Office, Engineering, IT and Business to translate real problems into computational tasks and analytical models
Translate ideas into early-stage prototypes and create clear visualisations, dashboards or reports to communicate insights
Contribute to the operationalisation of analytical solutions by implementing reproducible workflows, documenting methods and working with cloud platforms
Your Profile
University degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics or a related field
Strong foundations in data wrangling, data understanding and basic modelling (statistics, ML)
Solid knowledge of Python with clean coding practices and experience using Git
Hands‑on experience with LLMs, vector databases and prompt engineering concepts
Experience applying machine learning and GenAI techniques to real problems (academic or professional)
Experience working with relational databases (SQL) and basic familiarity with the Azure cloud platform
Ability to rapidly build PoCs for early validation
Analytical mindset, problem‑solving attitude, and willingness to learn and collaborate
Fluent in English; German is a strong asset

Services and expertise
Our services for industry, trade and commerce include testing, approvals and inspections in the areas of pressure equipment, welding technology and dangerous goods, as well as conformity assessments. Services such as CE marking and certification, expert reports, damage analyses, non‑destructive material testing and specialist training and further education round off the range of services offered by the Swiss Safety Centre.
In addition, the Swiss Safety Centre has in‑depth expertise in the fields of materials science, metallurgy, materialography and corrosion.
