OBJECTIVE AND MAIN TASK OF THE FUNCTION
Lead of Medical Scientific Information International is responsible for ensuring company-wide awareness of publications/Scientific communications, insights, trends and strategy of medical scientific information of STAAR’s products.
This leader must be able to work collaboratively and cross functionally with key internal stakeholders such as R&D, Clinical, Regulatory, Quality and Commercial leaders.
TASKS
* Maintain a database of global medical scientific publications to ensure company-wide awareness of publications related to STAAR surgical products, and to ensure cross-functional access to contemporary and historical publications.
* Generate medical scientific summaries, presentations, scientific compendia, training content, website content, and information to ensure pre and post-launch preparedness supporting the Professional Education, Marketing, Clinical and R&D, Commercial teams.
* Lead the identification of trends and insights from medical scientific publications, and scientific presentations at conferences/company-sponsored events, and ensure timely communication with stakeholders.
* Support PMS activities (Scientific papers/Congress presentations).
* Respond to medical scientific information enquiries from customers (evidence-based, consistent and compliant), documenting, tracking and reporting of the activity.
* Proactive engage with health care providers and commercial teams, to gather insights for medical information.
* Serves as Medical Reviewer in the Medical, Legal and Regulatory (MLR) process, ensuring that materials (mainly HCP-facing content) support evidence-based communication and comply with company policies, industry standards, and regulator requirements.
* Cross-collaboration with cross-functional partners for clinical messages/medical insights strategy, evidence generation and education/disscussion.
* Provides support for other Medical Affairs projects and/or other team members tasks as needed.
* Acquires and maintains ongoing scientific/medical expertise in optics/refractive surgery/ophthalmology by reviewing material presented at major conferences about ICL and competition and reading all monthly relevant new articles.
* Swiss based and able to travel approximately up to 30%.
REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS
Education: Optometrist with post-graduate degrees (master’s in clinical optometry/Ophthalmology, Visual Sciences, Biostatistcs, PhD, etc)
Special Knowledge: Proficient in English (verbal and written) and in one other additional language (Spanish, French, or German). Proficient in Microsoft Office. Excellent communication skills to adapt to different individuals at all levels.
Personality: Supportive and caring approach to customers while it is determined to provide reliable and honest feedback (advice). Able to work in a very dynamic environment and open to provide suggestions for improvement in all areas.
Professional Experience: Clinical practice of optometry at least 1-3 years of practice within ophthalmology fields (surgical refractive / cataract) or demonstrated exposure to research in the field of Ophthalmology/Optics/Optometry.
Prior work in med tech company not necessary but favourable.
