About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Global Trade Compliance Supervisor to help develop, implement, and sustain a robust global trade compliance program across a large, decentralized organization. This role is critical to ensuring compliance with U.S. export laws and international trade regulations while supporting complex manufacturing and engineering operations worldwide.

In this position, you will lead a team of trade compliance professionals, partner closely with cross-functional stakeholders, and drive enterprise-wide consistency in trade compliance processes, data integrity, and regulatory adherence across multiple ERPs and business units.

This is a highly visible role for someone who thrives in ambiguity, understands the nuances of import/export regulations, and can balance operational execution with strategic leadership.

Why Join Us

* Opportunity to lead and shape a global trade compliance program at scale
* High visibility and cross-functional impact across engineering, supply chain, and operations
* Fully remote role with enterprise-level responsibility
* Environment that values practical expertise, judgment, and continuous improvement

Benefits & Perks

* Comprehensive Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance
* 401(k) with company match
* Competitive PTO accrual, plus a floating holiday and paid volunteer time
* Tuition Reimbursement to support continued learning and professional development

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Program Oversight

* Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Global Trade Compliance professionals.
* Help design, implement, and improve trade compliance processes, tools, and internal controls.
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including automation and system enhancements.
* Serve as the primary liaison between Trade Compliance and Engineering, Legal, Logistics, Procurement, Sales, and IT.

Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management

* Oversee compliance with U.S. and international trade regulations, including EAR, ITAR, OFAC, BIS, CBP, antiboycott, and anti-slavery laws.
* Act as the technical escalation point for HTS, ECCN, and Country of Origin (COO) determinations.
* Lead and support internal and external audits, risk assessments, and corrective action plans.
* Administer visitor management protocols and access approvals for export-controlled facilities and technologies.
* Support the creation and enforcement of Technology Control Plans (TCPs) and manage access to controlled systems and data.

Classification & Licensing

* Supervise and approve ECCN classifications and EAR/ITAR jurisdiction determinations.
* Oversee HTS/Schedule B classifications, customs valuation, COO, and FTA eligibility.
* Manage COO determinations for customs and regulatory reporting.
* Prepare and submit licensing applications, exemptions, and TCPs under EAR/ITAR.
* Support engineering and technical teams with classification of hardware, software, and technical data.

Operational Support & Documentation

* Oversee restricted party screening (RPS), embargo, and sanctions compliance across multiple ERPs.
* Manage escalation and resolution of RPS false positives.
* Train operations teams on export documentation requirements, including EEI filings, shipping records, end-use statements, and license tracking.
* Utilize ACE/CBP reporting to provide operational and compliance impact analysis.

Collaboration, Training & Advisory

* Partner with Engineering, Supply Chain, and IT to embed trade compliance early in product development and supplier onboarding.
* Develop and deliver role-based trade compliance training programs across the organization.
* Serve as a trusted advisor on product changes, market expansion, and global operational activities.

Data-Driven Leadership

* Support customs strategies such as duty optimization, duty drawback, and supply chain resilience initiatives.
* Help define and implement global standards for trade compliance data within item master records.
* Partner with product teams to integrate compliance requirements into New Product Introduction (NPI) workflows.
* Assess and harmonize trade compliance data across multiple ERPs (e.g., SAP, QuickBooks, Syteline, MRM, Work-Net).

Mentorship & Succession Planning

* Train and develop junior associates to serve as future leaders and backups within the GTC organization.
* Provide coaching, progressive responsibility, and ongoing development for direct reports.

Requirements

* 5+ years of experience in Global Trade Compliance.
* 2–3 years of leadership or supervisory experience managing compliance teams.
* Hands‑on experience navigating complex import/export regulations and regulatory gray areas.
* Strong working knowledge of:
o ACE & ACE Reporting (ACH/PMS)
o ITAR / DDTC / SNAP‑R
o HS Code determination and classification
* Experience supporting highly regulated manufacturing or industrial environments preferred.
* Ability to self‑direct, prioritize effectively, and operate independently in a remote environment.
* Education is less important than demonstrated experience and expertise in trade compliance.

We believe in transparent and equitable pay. All U.S. job postings include a good‑faith salary range based on role, location, experience, and internal equity. We’re happy to discuss compensation openly throughout the hiring process.

Salary Description: $80,000 to $85,000
