Responsibilities
:
1. Define and implement the medical strategy in coordination with the Head of Mission and medical department.
2. Plan and manage all medical activities, ensuring alignment with MSF’s policies and ethical guidelines.
3. Translate health needs into a strategic vision and project objectives, ensuring resources are allocated accordingly.
4. Monitor and update the medical content of MSF’s country policies, medical strategy, annual plans, and budget.
5. Ensure the quality and appropriateness of all medical interventions, working to remove barriers to patient safety and effective care.
6. Continuously assess medical and humanitarian needs through exploratory missions and health information systems.
7. Supervise and monitor medical and humanitarian programmes through project visits, identifying and addressing challenges in implementation.
8. Collaborate with the Human Resources Coordinator to plan, recruit, and train medical staff, and support Project Coordinators and teams in delivering medical activities.
9. Define and implement the Health and Safety Policy Framework, ensuring the mental and physical well-being of our team.
10. Manage the pharmacy and medical equipment in collaboration with logistics, including medical orders and purchase requests.
11. Prepare reports on the medical evolution of our projects and oversee the medical library.
12. Represent MSF in discussions with local medical authorities and partner organisations, ensuring a strong medical-humanitarian response and supporting advocacy efforts.
Requirements:
13. A degree in medicine or other paramedical studies is essential.
14. At least two years of relevant professional experience, including prior humanitarian work with MSF or other NGOs in developing regions. For some projects, previous experience as a Project Coordinator with MSF is required.
15. Proficiency in the local language of the project area is essential.
16. Proficiency in basic computer applications such as Word, Excel, and internet usage.
Assets:
17. Specialisation in tropical medicine or public health.
18. Previous experience with MSF as a Project Coordinator.
19. Fluency in local language.
