We are looking for a Postdoctoral Fellow to investigate ultrafast structural dynamics in small‑molecule crystals using time‑resolved Serial Femtosecond Crystallography (sm‑SFX) at SwissFEL. The role involves designing and optimizing experimental setups, performing femtosecond pump–probe measurements, maintaining the experimental system, troubleshooting beamline and sample delivery issues, and presenting findings at conferences and in peer‑reviewed journals.
Your profile
 * PhD in chemistry, physics, or a related field.
 * Strong background in ultrafast science or molecular X‑ray techniques (small‑molecule X‑ray liquidography and/or crystallography).
 * Experience with XFEL experiments or femtosecond laser systems desirable but not essential.
 * Familiarity with time‑resolved experimental systems and crystal sample delivery methods for serial X‑ray experiments preferred.
 * Excellent data analysis skills, especially handling large time‑resolved datasets.
 * Strong enthusiasm for uncovering molecular reaction mechanisms at the atomic scale.
 * Collaborative, interdisciplinary, international mindset and proactive problem‑solving approach.
We offer
 * Systematic training on the job and personal development possibilities.
 * Modern employment conditions supporting work‑family balance.
 * Employment contract limited to 2 years with a possible extension to 3 years.
