This senior level opportunity will work closely with the Engineering leadership team. This position will be responsible for identifying, generating, and closing new business opportunities and selling Technology Development services in the Medical Devices and Life Sciences product sector.
This role reports to the Vice President, Business Development MedTech Services Tecan, US. This is a remote position which includes travel and has a preferred home base in the greater Boston, MA area or the Northeastern US.
SUMMARY :
Targets for Tecan concerning sales growth and financial objectives.
Build pipeline and close services deals by engaging consultatively with prospects, current customers, partners and account executives.
Incorporates Tecan Visions and Values in business activities
This position has direct and daily interaction with customers and Engineering and Operations leadership, to assemble and propose development and manufacturing solutions for the achievement of sales.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES & ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Source and qualify opportunities with startups and established MedTech firms that need Development and Manufacturing Services
Actively work existing relationships, networking contacts, professional affiliations, and industry groups
Present services solutions and value proposition to customers during the sales cycle
Work with engineering and operations leads to structure project offers
Create and present contract development and manufacturing services proposals to customers and prospects
Expand, nurture, and develop opportunities with existing client relationships
Identify and qualify all opportunities during the sales process
Create and execute the sales plan and process, including coordination of all necessary internal and external resources to best position Tecan to secure business
Work closely with marketing to develop effective, targeted go-to-market plans
Responsible for regular conference calls and meetings with prospective clients, General Manager and technical leads.
Build relationships within industry contacts to build sales funnel and secure a smooth process for project proposals.
Participate in sales, marketing and product strategy meetings on a regular basis to ensure we remain on target to achieve predetermined goals.
Direct involvement in marketing activities, including but not limited to national trade shows, local shows, collaborations with partner companies, etc.
Work within guidelines of company travel and expensepolicies
TRAINING, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Skills :
Demonstrated ability to identify and penetrate new accounts in addition to expanding current client accounts
Knowledge of the business development cycle, including the development, management, and execution of sales and BD planning, lead generation, pipeline management, account planning, and sales strategy
Ability to prioritize multiple projects and work independently
Strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to effectively communicate (orally and written) both technical and non-technical topics
Strong presentation skills demonstrated before customer, peers, and upper management
Ability to recognize and manage potential problem areas and resolve them with integrity
Ability to understand the needs of clients and co-workers
Ability to travel (often on short notice)
Must be self-motivated
Possesses an adaptive behavior when necessary - a willingness to learn something new; to do something a new way

Desired Qualifications :
A consulting business development executive who possesses a consistent and demonstrable track record of achieving annual revenue targets in contract development and manufacturing
Demonstrable background in developing and closing significant new name clients in his / her / their career, with expertise in in contract development and manufacturing
An extensive professional network focused on the MedTech sector
Experience :
BS degree in Engineering or Business or equivalent.
5-8 years previous experience, including services-based Sales, Sales Management and / or Product Management.
Broad industry knowledge with MedTech is required.
Familiarity with consultative selling and contract development and manufacturing
Experience in establishing budgets, planning, forecasting sales is desired but not required
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Annual Compensation Package up to $250,000 DOE (Base Salary + Target Commission, with No Cap)
