Technician Advanced Technology – Rapid Prototyping & Lab Support
To strengthen our Advanced Technology Department at Datwyler, we are looking for a hands-on Technician who will support our team in innovative projects such as rapid prototyping, novel welding and printing methods.
Responsibilities
Support innovative R&D and Advanced Technology projects (rapid prototyping, novel welding and printing methods)
Operate 3D printers (start jobs, monitor prints, do basic troubleshooting)
Clean and post-process printed parts (washing, curing, finishing, visual inspection)
Monitor stock levels and order resins and other consumables in time
Prepare and run moulding trials, including inserts and tool preparation
Prepare rubber and other materials for trials (e.g. cutting into strips/straps)
Prepare parts and samples for overmoulding and further testing (cutting, labelling, etc.)
Document process and its parameters and test results in a structured way
Operate relevant machines (printing, moulding, welding, etc.)
Support setting and adjusting process parameters together with engineers
Carry out test series to optimise processes (e.g. welding of bipolar plates, prototyping routes)
Organize and coordinate prototyping trials with the prototyping department and production
Ensure parts and samples are ready on time for project milestones
Profile
Completed technical education (e.g. lab technician, polymechanic, production technician, materials technician) or equivalent practical experience.
Experience in rubber and/or polymer molding
Experience in a lab, prototyping, production or workshop environment is an advantage.
Ideally, first exposure to 3D printing, polymer welding or similar manufacturing processes – or strong motivation to learn.
Basic knowledge of MS Excel and willingness to keep structured records.
Curious, proactive and eager to learn how to operate complex machines and understand process parameters.
Team player, able to collaborate with different functions (R&D, production, quality, etc.).
Good communication skills in English; German is an advantage
