You are a PR professional with a sharp news sense, a strategic mind, and the ability to build trust - with journalists and with internal stakeholders. You stay calm under pressure, communicate clearly across languages, and enjoy turning complex topics into stories that matter.
Your Profile
• Minimum 3 years of experience in PR, journalism, or corporate communications
• Strong editorial judgment and ability to assess the news value of topics
• Excellent written and verbal communication in German and English. French would be a strong asset
• Confident in dealing with journalists via phone, email, and in person
• Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of media responses
• Able to act as a company spokesperson (or willing to be trained for it)
• Natural relationship builder with excellent social skills
• Experience writing press releases and holding statements
• Ability to develop corporate topics into media-worthy stories
• Curious, proactive, structured, and collaborative
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
You are the single point of entry for all media inquiries and take full ownership of our PR inbox — independently managing incoming requests five days a week with a sharp eye for relevance, risk, and opportunity. You bring clarity, structure, and speed to our press work - and always stay one step ahead.
What You will Do
• Monitor and manage the press office (incoming media calls/e-mails) on a daily basis
• Evaluate and prioritize all incoming requests - from journalist inquiries to customer complaints or sponsoring topics - and route them to the right people in the organization
• Take full ownership of corporate press requests: assess urgency and relevance, decide who to involve, and drive the response process from start to finish
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders to gather facts, context, and approvals
• Draft and deliver clear, timely media responses and statements
• Act as a company spokesperson for interviews (training provided)
• Write and publish press releases
• Maintain and update the company’s online press newsroom
• Create holding statements for sensitive or crisis communication needs
• Represent the company at media events or press meetings
• Collaborate with and steer external PR agency partners
• Compile and analyze monthly PR reporting to track visibility and impact
• Stay on top of current affairs and media trends to identify opportunities to position IKEA stories proactively - and raise potential issues internally to ensure readiness
