Laboratory Technician (Biology) 80-100% (m/f/d)
We are currently seeking a motivated and skilled Laboratory Technician for our Applications team.
Your main mission will be to boost our single-cell biopsy collection capabilities and run our RNA library preparation and QC pipeline. You will use the most sensitive and advanced protocols available for ultra‑low input RNA‑Seq, directly contributing to the development of novel technologies that are redefining genomics.
Routinely collect single cell biopsy samples for application development and customer projects
Routinely execute NGS RNA library preparation, quantification (e.g. qPCR, automated electrophoresis), and rigorous quality control
Operate and maintain specialized instruments (FluidFM OMNIUM, Fragment Analyzer, etc.)
Manage laboratory and cell culture housekeeping: maintain inventory, order supplies, prepare aliquots and stock solutions, and ensure biosafety compliance
Maintain accurate, detailed records of experimental procedures and results using an Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN)
Collaborate with the development team to continuously improve protocols, define SOPs, and support the planning of experimental activities
Your Profile
Completed apprenticeship as a laboratory technician with specialization in biology, or alternatively, a bachelor’s degree in molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, or a related field
Profound knowledge of molecular biology techniques (RNA extraction and enrichment, PCR, qPCR, capillary electrophoresis, etc.)
Experience in mammalian cell culture techniques (Biosafety level 2)
Experience in laboratory housekeeping procedures, including maintaining inventory and equipment, ordering supplies, and preparing stock solutions
Experience in using an Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) or Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
Full proficiency in English; basic knowledge of German is a strong plus
Desirable: Work experience with single cell RNA‑seq, preferably with low‑input RNA‑seq protocols such as SMART‑seq, FLASH‑seq or other commercial kits
Desirable: Work experience in a GLP‑compliant lab, or acquaintance with standard quality management systems (e.g., ISO 17025, ISO 9001)
Who You Are
Meticulous: you treat every sample as irreplaceable, because in our work it often is
Reliable: your colleagues trust that when you hand off a library, the data in the notebook matches what’s in the tube
Hands‑on: you prefer the bench to the desk and take ownership of the lab space and keep it running
Collaborative: you work within a small, tight‑knit team where everyone's contribution is visible and valued
Self‑organised: you manage your time, flag problems early, and don't wait to be told what needs doing
Benefits: 25 days vacation (5 weeks) with an additional 3 days off at Christmas, flexible working hours, and proximity to public transport.
Location: Glattbrugg, Zurich – less than a 2‑minute walk from tram, bus, S‑Bahn and airport.
