Purpose
The ICRC is an independent, neutral organization ensuring humanitarian protection and assistance for victims of armed conflict and other situations of violence. It takes action in response to emergencies and at the same time promotes respect for international humanitarian law. In an ever-evolving world, the ICRC recognizes the importance of seizing digital opportunities to enhance its operational capabilities; support a leaner, more agile and cost-efficient organizational model; and increase accountability and transparency.
We’re looking for an experienced agile coach to help transition our existing work practices to a full embrace of agile methodology, from the top down and across different department and maturity levels. The agile coach will mentor and guide our product teams in identifying the best practices for their specific challenges. S/He will work in the Lean Agile Center of excellence in the Technology and Information division as active contributor in streamlining agile product delivery, while fostering a learning organization. This is a key role consistent with the long-term strategy of the institution, helping our cross-functional teams deliver better products in a faster, more efficient manner.
Accountabilities & Functional responsibilities
Collaborate with Head of LACE in
establishing coherence across product lines and beyond the T&I division in the SAFe framework implementation
championing the use of metrics
facilitating communities of practice across key agile roles, i.e., product owners, scrum masters, release train engineers, business owners
accelerating the adoption of a culture of continuous learning among employees through individual and team coaching
Coach senior managers in agile practices to ensure adoption of best practices from the top down
Communicate agile principles, scrum practices, and overall operating model across the organization
Undertake daily follow-ups with individual team members to ensure projects are on track and goals are being met
Maintain objectivity regarding issues and how to troubleshoot them by applying agile principles
Hold stand-up meetings with cross-functional teams to review project status
Support teams in determining resource allocations to maintain agile practices and ensure smooth product delivery

Geographic remit: global.
Works with all project teams including T&I staff and metier stakeholders, to analyze current systems and processes and design a strategy for adopting agile best practices
Needs deep understanding of the institutional and the digital strategies to fine-tuning team approaches to ensure that overall goals are being met.
Lead agile workshops for developer and functional teams, as well as for key stakeholders
Contributes significantly to adopting a culture of continuous improvement, setting goals and milestones and assigning responsibility
Drive cultural change by championing an agile mindset, and ensure the organization is adhering to industry best practices
Relationships
Partners with Metiers stakeholders to facilitate the adoption of a product driven operating model.
Internally, interacts with staff and mangement at all level of the organization, including with Directorate.
Externally, interacts with suppliers and thought leaders in their functional domain.
Participates to external events, with professional communities and the Red Cross Movement.
Certifications / Education required
Master’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
Excellent command of English; knowledge of French an asset
Agile certification as Product Owner, Scrum Master required
SAFe certification required
Experience in Lean or Six-Sigma
Design-thinking or UX design certification an asset
Professional Experience required
Five or more years of experience as agile coach
Experience in using scrum, kanban, and scaled agile framework (SAFe)
Track record of implementing agile techniques in different work cultures and environments
Experience in running agile projects of varying size and complexity
Strong skills for leading, educating, and coaching
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred skills and qualifications
Certification as agile coach or scrum master
Experience in coaching at large organizations or Fortune 500 companies
Educational background in computer science
