is looking for an exceptional
Principal Engineer, POS & Omnichannel Tech Lead
to join our Digital Technology team based in Stabio, Switzerland.

Let's talk about the role
As a Principal Engineer specializing in Point of Sale (POS) systems and Omnichannel solutions, you will lead the design, development, and optimization of our in-store technology ecosystem for a global retail leader in outdoor and streetwear. Your deep expertise in Oracle Xstore, omnichannel retail, and store operations will be instrumental in delivering seamless, secure, and scalable customer experiences across physical stores and digital touchpoints.

Key Responsibilities

* POS Architecture & Delivery – Lead the end-to-end implementation and evolution of Oracle Xstore POS systems across global retail locations. Architect scalable, modular, and cloud-ready POS solutions that support omnichannel journeys, including BOPIS, BORIS, endless aisle, and clienteling. Ensure high availability, performance, and resilience of in-store systems, including offline capabilities and real-time sync with backend systems.
* Technical Delivery Leadership – Oversee the end-to-end delivery of POS platform changes, ensuring high-quality, on-time releases. Collaborate with different development teams, manage sprint execution, and resolve technical blockers in collaboration with QA and product teams.
* Stakeholder & Vendor Management – Collaborate with business leaders, product teams, and technology vendors, aligning solutions with business goals and ensuring seamless execution.
* Code Quality & Engineering Best Practices – Promote clean, maintainable code and enforce best practices through code reviews, documentation, and mentoring. Support CI/CD pipelines and agile delivery processes to ensure continuous improvement.

Skills For Success
To thrive in this role, you'll need a strong background in delivering complex POS & Omnichannel solutions within large, distributed organizations. You're a hands-on technical leader who can guide teams, solve problems, and ensure high-quality execution. Key skills include:

* Store Device Integration – Clear understanding of POS integration with physical store devices
* Payments, Security & Compliance – Expertise in implementing secure, compliant payment flows across geographies, integrating providers like Adyen, PayPal, and Klarna. Ensure adherence to PCI-DSS, GDPR, and other regulatory standards, embedding fraud prevention and data protection into POS workflows.
* Return Management – Expertise in implementing return workflows including verified, unverified, blind returns, and omnichannel returns such as BORIS (Buy Online Return In Store), ensuring seamless customer experience and operational efficiency.
* MobilePOS & Tap-To-Pay – Knowledge of MobilePOS solutions and Tap-To-Pay capabilities, which enhances store associate mobility and customer convenience.
* POS & Omnichannel Promotion Engine – Proven experience designing, implementing, and customizing Oracle Xstore POS across multiple regions and store formats, implementing robust omnichannel promotion solution that work seamlessly across POS and eCommerce platforms. Ensure consistent application of discounts, and promotional campaigns across all customer touchpoints.
* Customer Experience & Optimization – Expertise in managing unified Customer cross channels; optimizing in-store customer experiences through POS interfaces and workflows. This includes designing intuitive user flows for store associates, enabling personalized service through customer profiles and purchase history Experience with performance tuning of POS systems to ensure fast, reliable transactions and minimal downtime during peak hours.
* Endless Aisle & Unified Cart Implementation – Skilled in designing and deploying Endless Aisle solutions that empower store associates to access and sell inventory beyond the physical store—enabling customers to browse, order, and receive products from other locations or warehouses directly at the POS or at Home.
* Backroom Operations & Fulfillment – Clear understanding of backroom operations for order fulfillment, including Pick & Pack processes, inventory management, and real-time order tracking.
* Tax & Fiscal Compliance – Proven Experience integrating POS systems with tax providers such as Avalara to ensure accurate tax calculation based on the region or country. Deep Knowledge with major European fiscalization requirements, including country-specific mandates for receipt generation, transaction logging, and secure data transmission.
* AI & Data-Driven Store Operations – Familiarity with AI-powered tools and analytics to enhance in-store experiences and operational efficiency. This includes leveraging AI tools for search optimization, product recommendations, using platform like Bloomreach or Optimizely.
* Agile Delivery & DevOps – Skilled in Agile/Scrum methodologies, sprint planning, and CI/CD practices. Comfortable working in fast-paced, cross-functional environments.
* Project & Delivery Tooling – Proficient in using tools like Azure DevOps (ADO), Bitbucket, Jira, and Confluence
* Problem Solving & Execution Focus – Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with a delivery-first mindset and the ability to resolve technical challenges quickly and effectively.
* Collaboration & Communication – Excellent interpersonal skills to work across engineering, product, and business teams. Able to translate technical concepts into clear, actionable plans and tickets.
