Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead and deliver complex rail infrastructure projects across their full lifecycle. The role requires strong ownership of scope, cost, schedule, quality, safety, and stakeholder management, ensuring successful project outcomes in line with company standards and regulatory requirements. The Senior Project Manager acts as the primary point of accountability for assigned projects, driving execution excellence, risk management, and transparent governance while collaborating closely with internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Lead end‑to‑end delivery of complex rail infrastructure projects, from contract handover through commissioning and project close‑out
Assume full responsibility for scope, schedule, cost, quality, safety, and risk management
Manage projects primarily in B and C project categories, depending on complexity and size
Apply and maintain project management methodologies, tools, and best practices in line with PM@Siemens
Ensure full compliance with safety standards, quality requirements, contractual obligations, and regulatory frameworks
Act as primary interface to customers, railway operators, contractors, suppliers, and regulatory authorities
Drive proactive risk and opportunity management, including mitigation plans and escalation where required
Monitor and control project budgets, forecasts, cash flow, and earned value performance
Lead contract and claim management in close collaboration with commercial and legal teams
Coordinate multi‑disciplinary project teams (engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning)
Implement robust project controls, reporting, and governance structures
Participate in project reviews and ensure timely implementation of corrective actions
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and knowledge sharing within the project management community
Qualifications
Master’s degree in Engineering, or a related technical field
10+ years of project management experience in rail infrastructure or comparable large‑scale infrastructure projects
Experience in software development projects is a plus
Proven track record in delivering complex projects within contractual, financial, and schedule constraints
IPMA B, or equivalent project management certification
Strong understanding of railway systems and infrastructure components
Solid experience with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and quality management
Experience working in international project environments
Excellent stakeholder management and communication capabilities
English and German mandatory, French/Italian is an advantage
Technical Skills
Proficient in project management and reporting tools
Strong experience in cost management, forecasting, and earned value management
Solid analytical capability with a structured approach to problem solving
Ability to interpret contractual, technical, and financial project data effectively
Soft Skills
High level of ownership and accountability
Capability of coaching younger Project Managers
Strong leadership presence without formal line management
Excellent negotiation, influence, and conflict resolution skills
Strategic mindset combined with hands‑on execution ability
Clear, structured communication across all organizational levels
Ability to perform under pressure and manage parallel priorities
