Laine is a mission-driven startup tackling the large, underserved market of legal drafting and contracting. We are building the next generation of generative AI tools and network platforms to digitise the relationship between clients and lawyers. As we scale, we are looking for a precision-oriented Accountant to architect our financial operations and ensure our global growth is built on a compliant, transparent, and efficient foundation.
Role Purpose
As an Accountant at Laine, you will be responsible for the integrity of our financial ecosystem. You will manage the day-to-day bookkeeping, cross-border consolidations, and tax compliance. Beyond standard reporting, you will act as a strategic partner to the leadership team, providing the financial analysis and budget planning necessary to fuel our expansion.
Key Responsibilities
Group & Statutory Accounting: Lead company and group accounting activities, including consolidation in accordance with Swiss and IFRS standards. Prepare financial accounts for various countries and manage all VAT and tax filings.
Financial Analysis & Strategy: Prepare financial and budgetary presentations. Take ownership of cash flow monitoring and liquidity planning to ensure the projects are well-resourced.
Operational Finance: Oversee the full invoicing lifecycle for the group, including validation of invoices, payment processing, and proactive monitoring of reminders and collections.
Systems & Process Optimization: Utilise accounting software (Xero or QuickBooks) to improve the efficiency of the finance department, proposing automated solutions to streamline workflows.
Administrative Excellence: Maintain robust financial documentation and ensure the company meets all deadlines for statutory and regulatory reporting.
Essential Qualifications
Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Experience: Previous experience in a similar accounting role.
Technical Fluency: High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel) and modern accounting software (Xero/QuickBooks).
Language Skills: Proficiency in English (written and oral) is essential for communicating with international partners.
Startup Mindset: Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, with high attention to detail and a commitment to meeting tight deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a Fintech or LegalTech startup environment.
Familiarity with multi-jurisdictional tax returns and international payroll coordination.
Experience transitioning manual financial processes into automated, scalable systems.
