EPFL is providing high quality education to students and is very active in innovation around teaching and learning. Communication plays a crucial role in this. The Center for Learning Sciences LEARN (learn.epfl.ch/) contributes to the evolution of teaching and learning at EPFL and in education across Switzerland. LEARN is looking for a communication manager responsible for center-wide and project-related communication.
LEARN drives translational research on digital education and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) teaching and learning. Translational research refers to the development of innovations through a process that designs research in the light of challenges of the practice and transforms research results into concrete impact on education.
LEARN is a federation of labs and service units active in the field of digital education and STEM education. Our mission is twofold: internal, i.e. evidence-based innovation of teaching and learning at EPFL, and external, i.e. translational research with and for education in Switzerland, at all levels and in all regions.
Communication is key as we need to facilitate the collaboration among members of the Center, share our results to promote adoption by practitioners and education stakeholders, and attract implementation partners. We therefore are looking for a communication manager responsible for the communication towards the internal audience at EPFL as well as the external audiences (schools, teachers, cantonal authorities, foundations, partners etc).
Main Duties And Responsibilities
* Creation of content (text, video, infography etc) for different communication channels (website, news channel, social media) for various audiences
* Management of the website and its content, including analytics
* Management of newsletters
* Organisation of events
* Identification of various audiences and differentiation of communication among them
* Evolution of the communication strategy and plan; Monitoring of communication coherence and effectiveness
* Contribution to communication activities in various projects of the Center, in consultation with project partners and stakeholders (e.g., foundations)
* Support for the preparation of communication material (e.g. reports)
* Coordination across LEARN members regarding communication and interface between LEARN and EPFL central communication team
Profile
* University or higher professional education degree in the field of communication or journalism
* Professional experience of at least 3 years in a relevant position / project
* Experience with website management, experience with wordpress is a plus
* Experience in the conception, execution, and monitoring of communication strategies
* Capacity of writing and creating engaging content
* Interest for education and learning sciences
* Fluent in English and French, German is a big plus
* Proactive attitude and service orientation
