Trade Compliance Specialist – HQ & Functions
About the Role
The Global Trade team within this organization is responsible for ensuring trade compliance and optimizing trade-related business operations. This encompasses a broad scope of work covering export controls, sanctions and customs compliance, supply chain compliance, and supply chain optimization.
The Global Trade Manager – HQ & Functions leads, manages, and implements the Hitachi Energy Global Trade Program (GTP) within the Swiss-based Headquarters and with the Corporate Functions (such as Tax, Treasury, R&D, IT, HR, SCM, etc.).
This role reports to the global Head of Trade Compliance & Security and is part of the Global Trade Leadership Team.
Daily Tasks and Responsibilities
* Driving the implementation of the GTP and its governance framework in HQ and with the Corporate Functions.
* Advising on and driving trade compliance in the Corporate Functions;
* Recruiting, appointing, managing, training, developing, and supporting the Country Trade Compliance Officers (CTCOs) in Switzerland;
* Informing and advising the Head of Trade Compliance & Security, the Global Trade team, the European CTCOs, the BUs, and other stakeholders on trade issues;
* Co-leading or leading the global Export Controls Steering Group or Sanctions Steering Group, which are specialist advisory groups within the Global Trade team.
* Mapping and improving trade policies and procedures.
* Training stakeholders on trade matters;
* Identifying and capturing duty savings opportunities;
* Supporting the implementation, use, and continuous improvement of global trade-related tools (such as SAP GTS) and automation;
* Overseeing and controlling monthly KPI reporting, issue reporting, annual risk assessments, and other trade-related reporting as well as implementing corrective and risk mitigation measures;
* Supporting internal and external trade audits;

About You
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* A graduate or postgraduate degree in trade, law, economics, international relations, or other trade-related field.
* A legal qualification or background (desired).
* 10+ years' experience in export controls, sanctions, and customs compliance, supply chain compliance, and supply chain optimization in an in-house role.
* Specialist knowledge of export controls and/or sanctions.
* Fluency in written and spoken English language. Other European languages a plus.
* Currently based in Switzerland or the EU.
