Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant/Accounting Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, with a focus on financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.


Main Responsibilities:

* Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including general ledger accounts, accounts payable and receivable, fixed assets, leasing, accruals, and deferrals.
* Prepare and review timely period-end closing activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
* Support initiatives aimed at improving finance processes, enhancing efficiency, completeness, and accuracy of financial data.
* Responsible for VAT reporting (quarterly) and VAT reconciliation (quarterly and annually).
* Assist the team in preparing and reviewing semi-annual and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS and Swiss Code of Obligations.
* Assist in preparation for external audit and processing inquiries from auditors.
* Support implementation of internal control system.
* Participate in implementation and maintenance of ERP system.
* Assist in controlling tasks, such as preparing management reports, budgets, and forecasts, and conducting financial analysis to ensure alignment with business objectives and achievement of financial targets.

Your area of responsibility will be rounded off by various administrative activities.


Ideal Candidate Profile:

* Chartered Specialist in Accounting and Financial Management Specialist certificate in finance and accounting or equivalent further training.
* At least 3 years of professional experience in a similar position, experience in life science sector is strongly desirable.
* Experience at Big 4 accounting firm or fiduciary firm is a plus.
* Understanding of and practical experience in dealing with Swiss VAT; experience with foreign VAT is a plus.
* Solid theoretical and practical knowledge of Swiss Code of Obligations, complemented by intermediate understanding of IFRS and hands-on experience applying these standards in previous roles.
* Demonstrates high level of precision and quality in all tasks, with ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously while maintaining consistency and attention to detail.
* Proficient in using Microsoft Office applications, with advanced Excel skills, and experienced with ERP systems.
* Business fluent in both written and spoken English.
* Strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and take initiative when needed.
