What You’ll Do
IronArch is seeking an experienced Technical Writer to support a high-impact project within the Veterans Affairs (VA) ecosystem. We're looking for a detail-oriented and collaborative professional who excels at capturing, organizing, and communicating complex technical information. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced Agile environments and is passionate about enabling teams through precise, user-centric documentation.
The Technical Writer will work closely with Product Managers, Project Leads, Developers, and VA stakeholders to develop and maintain a wide range of technical artifacts. The ideal candidate brings both writing excellence and a systems-thinking mindset to ensure all documentation aligns with evolving business and technical requirements.

Key Responsibilities
* Create, maintain, and update program documentation, including system design documents, standard operating procedures (SOPs), user guides, training manuals, onboarding materials, configuration management and deployment guides, status reports, meeting summaries, and ATO/security documentation.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise documentation
* Support Agile delivery cycles by maintainingaccurate and current artifacts throughout sprints and releases
* Participate in meetings with internal and external stakeholders to gather requirements and clarify documentation needs
* Ensure traceability between documentation and system requirements, test plans, and implementation outputs
* Adhere to VA style guides, compliance frameworks (e.g., FedRAMP, Section 508), and security protocols
* Conduct content reviews to ensure documentation quality, consistency, and completeness
Requirements
* Public Trust Clearance or higher (ability to obtain and maintain required background investigation)
Preferred Experience
* 5+ years of experience as a Technical Writer, preferably in a federal IT or regulated industry environment
* Proven ability to author and maintain technical content such as SOPs, user documentation, system overviews, or API references
* Experience working with Agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, SAFe) and supporting cross-functional delivery teams
* Familiarity with documentation tools such as Confluence
* Ability to gather information through stakeholder interviews, legacy documentation, and hands-on testing
* Understanding of software development lifecycles, DevSecOps, or system integration concepts
* Knowledge of VA documentation standards, ATO processes, or security compliance frameworks is a plus
* Comfortable managing multiple documentation streams and shifting priorities in a dynamic, client-facing environment
* Strong editorial skills with a commitment to clarity, accuracy, and consistency
