Background

Behind every clinical trial product and commercialized medicine at Roche stands Pharma Global Technical Operations – an organization of over 10,000 employees worldwide. Within it, Pharma Technical Development plays a crucial role in advancing new medicines through innovation, collaboration, and scientific excellence.

The Synthetic Molecules Technical Development (PTDC) unit drives the technical development of Roche's synthetic molecules pipeline, covering drug substance, drug product, and analytical sciences. PTDC also manufactures clinical supplies for global clinical studies.

The position sits within Analytical Research and Development for Synthetic Molecules, responsible for designing and optimizing efficient analytical methods using state‑of‑the‑art technologies such as HPLC, GC, IC, and MS. The ultimate goal is to build robust control strategies for clinical trial material and eventually commercial supply.


The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate has completed a vocational scientific qualification (e.g. apprenticeship, laboratory technician, Chemielaborant) and brings 2?3 years of pharmaceutical industry experience, with a clear focus on analytical development for oligonucleotides. They offer strong hands‑on skills in HPLC, MS, and ideally LC‑MS, combined with an excellent quality mindset, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic, innovative environment. This person is motivated to focus primarily on laboratory work and communicates confidently in English.


Tasks & Responsibilities

* Perform routine analytical measurements for Oligonucleotides (primarily HPLC with UV and/or Single Quadrupole MS detection)
* Plan, execute, and document experiments in close collaboration with a team of five associates
* Operate analytical instruments using chromatographic data systems such as Empower or OpenLab
* Evaluate data using Genedata or Oligo Analysis Accelerator
* Develop, optimize, and validate analytical methods for quality assessment of Oligonucleotides
* Ensure compliance with GxP guidelines and relevant SOPs


Must Haves

* Completed vocational scientific qualification (e.g. apprenticeship as chemical laboratory technician); no university degree (no Bachelor/Master/PhD)
* 2?3 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry
* Hands‑on experience with analytical instrumentation/techniques (HPLC, MS)
* Strong interest or background in analytical development for oligonucleotides
* Knowledge of LC‑MS is a plus
* Experience with large molecule/biologics analytics is an advantage
* Self‑motivated, proactive, open‑minded, goal‑oriented, and a strong team player
* Strong quality mindset, attention to detail, and good knowledge of GxP requirements
* Good command of English; German is beneficial

Engineer - New Process Technology

Our client Philip Morris is looking for an Engineer – New Process Technology based in Neuchatel. Duration: 30.10.2026. Purpose of the job: Drive New Process Technology projects and develop appropriate strategies to introduce these new material transformations meeting business needs. Compile and share/transfer substantiated knowledge on critical material transformations towards upscale and industrialization. Provide consultation and expertise to multiple areas of the organization on the developed technologies/processes/transformations and methods. Accountabilities include achieving results by applying a high level of technical/scientific competence as a specialist in design, development, control or implementation of complex product and process quality practices. Develop business justification, scope, and resource requirements for management reviews and decision making. Lead all stages of assigned research/ development projects and coordinate the technical/scientific activities of multi‑disciplinary and/or cross‑functional participants. Participate in regular management reviews and act as technology/engineering specialist and advisor. Lead and direct internal project members (and external consultants & vendors when applicable) to ensure project scopes, budgets, schedules and timelines are developed & managed from project initiation until closure and compliant to all PMI standards. Review, evaluate and manage large quantities of research/technical information and existing PMI documents. Perform knowledge management via data compilation, review and storage in line with Company, FDA or any other equivalent accreditation authority requirements. Actively participate in strategies development and activity plans, which will build new process technology pipeline projects and capabilities for future anticipation. Carry out all of the activities ensuring that PMI Compliance Policies, standards, and laws relating to these activities are fully respected, integrated and understood by stakeholders, and implement adequate processes to ensure the protection of information of a confidential nature. Skills & Competencies: Education – College/University: Engineering or Science Degree or Equivalent. Material Science, Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering preferred. If the required degree is not present, the incumbent is having the proper knowledge and is able to fulfill the technical/scientific competencies for this position. Work experience: Nice to have: 2-5 years of relevant experience, preferably in tobacco industry or in a multinational environment.
