Technical Project Manager – Application Migration to Azure (all) Hybrid/Cloud Re-platforming/Jira
Project: Our international client is driving a major transformation programme to migrate all core applications and systems from on-premise data centres into Microsoft Azure. This long-term initiative is a key part of the company’s infrastructure strategy and involves re-platforming legacy environments through a lift-and-optimise approach. To strengthen the programme team, we are looking for a highly skilled Technical Project Manager with both cloud and on-premise expertise, who can successfully lead complex migrations and ensure compliance, security, and operational excellence throughout.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
* Lead the re-platforming of assigned legacy applications from on-premise data centres into Azure.
* Develop and execute migration plans, ensuring minimal disruption and alignment with platform standards.
* Coordinate activities across IT engineers, solution architects, application owners, business stakeholders, and external partners.
* Manage all technical stages of migration, including assessment, preparation, configuration, testing, cut-over, and post-migration validation.
* Ensure adherence to security, compliance, and governance requirements for all re-platformed solutions.
* Provide regular reporting and updates to management and steering committees.
* Drive efficient project delivery within agreed timelines and budgets.
Required Skills and Experience
* Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
* Strong track record (5+ years) in IT project management, ideally in infrastructure or cloud re-platforming projects.
* Proven experience leading complex, phased migrations within a platform or infrastructure organisation.
* Solid understanding of legacy infrastructure environments (VMware, Hyper-V, physical/virtual servers).
* Experience with legacy database platforms (SQL Server, Oracle)
* Familiarity with enterprise networking, storage, and backup solutions
* Hands-on experience migrating workloads to Azure IaaS, including VM migrations
* Knowledge of Azure networking, governance, and security in a re-platforming context
* Understanding of cloud operations, cost management, and monitoring for re-platformed applications
* Proficiency with project management tools such as Jira and Confluence
* Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, able to bridge technical and business teams
* Proactive, structured, and results-driven, with strong analytical and decision-making skills
* Experience working in international, cross-functional environments
* PMP, PRINCE2, or similar project management certification
* Previous experience in the energy or utilities sector
Languages:
* English fluent (written and spoken)
* German (Intermediate – fluent nice to have)
