Research Associate in Pharmaceutical Material Sciences at Roche. Join Roche's Pharmaceutical Research and Early Development organization (pRED) to advance science and patient health.
Responsibilities
* Plan and perform optimal milling processes to support formulation development of diverse projects.
* Assume full ownership of milling facilities, including day‑to‑day upkeep, troubleshooting and minor maintenance, and coordinate complex repairs with dedicated internal or external specialists.
* Evaluate, optimize, and implement new technologies in the field to enhance efficiency and product quality.
* Maintain a detailed and accurate record of all experimental work, author comprehensive technical reports, summaries, and presentations.
* Work effectively within a cross‑functional environment, fostering clear communication with interfaces and project teams to ensure seamless project progression.
* Perform XRPD (X‑ray Powder Diffraction) analyses to ensure a thorough understanding of solid forms across different projects and stages of development.
Qualifications
* Successful apprenticeship, Bachelor’s degree or higher in Material Sciences, Pharmaceutical Technology, Solid State Chemistry, or a related field.
* Proven experience in milling pharmaceutically relevant materials or strong drive to become a milling expert; experience in solid form analytics – especially XRPD or pharmaceutical solid form screening is beneficial.
* High level of technical understanding and experience in automation.
* Meticulous laboratory hygiene and strong safety awareness; experience handling highly active substances is a plus.
* Proactive, results‑driven mindset combined with excellent problem‑solving skills.
* Ability to operate in self‑organized teams with flat hierarchy and collaborate inclusively across departments and global functions.
* Strong communication skills and fluency in English, both written and spoken; German skills are a strong advantage.
