Biotechnology innovation is driving transformative change in the life sciences industry. A key contributor to this success will be a skilled Bioprocess Engineer who can oversee operational activities in Downstream manufacturing.
This role involves managing tech transfer support, material planning, document and electronic batch record preparation, training, and troubleshooting or deviation handling.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan and coordinate downstream processing operations to ensure efficient production of therapeutic proteins.
* Lead an interdisciplinary team of production personnel, supervisors, and specialists to achieve project objectives.
* Provide guidance and support for commercial manufacturing in one or more defined DSP areas, such as capture, intermediate purification, polishing, or drug substance filling.
* Oversee the operation of single-use and/or stainless steel equipment for the purification of therapeutic proteins from mammalian expression systems.
* Mentor junior engineers to enhance their skills and knowledge.
* Develop and implement large-scale cross-functional optimization projects to improve process efficiency.
Requirements:
* Bachelor, Master's Degree, or PhD in Biotechnology, Bio-chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or related Life Science subject.
* Significant work experience (>5 Years) in Downstream Processing, preferably in the biotech/biopharma industry.
* Deep understanding of downstream processing techniques, including chromatography, ultra-/diafiltration, and final filling.
* Strong GMP knowledge and expertise.
* Familiarity with MES/DeltaV system is beneficial.
* Excellent communication skills in English and/or German.
* Demonstrated team leadership and collaboration skills.
* A well-structured and organized approach to problem-solving.
