DESCRIPTION - Senior Manager, Global Competitive Intelligence, Cardiovascular Metabolism Pulmonary Hypertension (CVM / PH)
SUMMARY OF THE ROLE
The Senior Manager, Global Competitive Intelligence, helps shape pipeline strategies through assessing emerging targets / MOAs and understanding of competitors’ strategies and tactics for clinical development and commercialization. This role is responsible to support both the Cardiovascular Metabolism Commercial stronghold and the Pulmonary Hypertension Disease Area Stronghold. This role is responsible to support the competitive intelligence needs of the existing pipeline products as well as business development assessments.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Help shape the strategy of the Commercial / Disease Area Stronghold and the strategy of pipeline products through competitive insights:
* Track development progress of competitors, e.g., trial design, timeline, recruiting status, data readout.
* Gain insights into the go-to-market model and commercial strategy / tactics of competitors.
* Interpret the competitive information to derive implications and form recommendations.
* Align key stakeholders and communicate timely across the organization.
* Lead competitive scenario planning.
1. Support the exploration / assessment of new opportunities:
* Monitor the landscape, track emerging targets / MOAs for potential opportunities.
* Help conduct due diligence of early-stage opportunities.
* Inform TPP and Forecast with an in-depth understanding of the competitive landscape.
* Share insights to facilitate decisions based on analytics in alignment with market research and forecasting.
2. Lead competitive intelligence gathering, interpretation, and communication during key scientific congresses:
* Develop coordinated plans (playbooks) with comprehensive summaries of key abstracts / posters / presentations and intelligence objectives.
* Lead team debriefs in coordination with cross-functional / cross-region partners.
* Ensure timely communications across the organization.
3. Lead regular competitive landscape reviews to ensure the organization has a strong understanding and perspective of the emerging science in prioritized disease areas.
4. Collaborate with regional teams to share resources and learnings and maintain alignment of understanding.
5. Manage external vendors for primary and secondary CI projects.
6. Enhance competitive intelligence capabilities by improving processes and adopting best practices.
QUALIFICATIONS
* A Master’s degree in a scientific-related field is required.
* Minimum of 8 years of experience with at least 3 years in the pharmaceutical industry working on competitive intelligence or in the commercial setting.
* Working knowledge of key secondary data sources to gather intelligence is required.
* Experience in cardiovascular, pulmonary hypertension, or metabolic-related disease areas preferred.
* Proven ability to gather data, analyze data for insights, and form recommendations.
* Strong leadership, project, and process management skills to drive results.
* Strong communication skills and storytelling capability.
* Strong learning agility to quickly establish understanding of new disease areas or master new skills.
* Ability to influence and impact others through building and defending arguments.
* Ability to lead, manage, and influence others with or without direct authority.
* A track record of working effectively across functions/organizations.
* Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
