Operational Buyer – Supply Chain for Small Molecules
Based in Visp, Switzerland | Contract Position from 01/12/2025 to 31/05/2026 (no possibility of extension).
We are seeking a motivated and proactive Operational Buyer to join the Supply Chain team supporting Small Molecule operations. In this role, you will ensure a reliable material supply by actively managing supplier performance and resolving operational challenges to support ongoing manufacturing activities.
Main Responsibilities:
Supplier Management
* Monitor and track supplier performance, providing feedback and input to Strategic Buyers and Category Managers.
* Drive improvement initiatives to enhance on-time delivery, quality, and compliance.
Procurement Operations
* Manage Level 2 vendor escalations, including delivery delays, pricing discrepancies, and missing confirmations.
* Expedite, push out, or pull in deliveries based on MRP and production requirements.
* Oversee vendor returns, cost recovery, and replacement processes.
Data & Systems Oversight
* Ensure accurate and up-to-date material and vendor master data in SAP.
* Collaborate with procurement colleagues to maintain valid outline agreements and purchasing records.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
* Support the qualification and onboarding of new suppliers and raw materials.
* Coordinate with internal stakeholders to align procurement priorities and address supply issues.
* Participate in supplier change implementation and improvement initiatives.
Contracting & Bidding
* Support Strategic Buyers in negotiating low-value contracts.
* Execute competitive bid processes and RFx activities according to company policy.
Administrative & Reporting Duties
* Conduct regular open-order reviews and manage AP inquiries (invoice issues, etc.).
* Provide insights and data for supplier performance tracking and improvement plans.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.
* Extensive experience in a similar operational purchasing or supply chain role.
* Strong SAP (or ERP) system expertise.
* Proven experience in purchasing raw materials and managing supplier relationships.
* Track record in handling vendor performance issues and implementing improvement plans.
* Experience with contract negotiation and bid management.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Fluent in German and English (both written and spoken).
* Strong commercial mindset and solution-oriented approach.
